I thought you were using clear glass cake plates for your centerpieces?

We went with Sangria dresses from David’s Bridal also and decided on light pink and ivory/cream flowers to lighten it up for our May 10th wedding. We’ll be using light pink peonies, cream colored roses, cream hydrangea, light pink tulips, and other light colored spring flowers. I searched pinterest for Sangria dresses to see what flowers looked nice with them…that’s where I got the idea for light pink peonies.

@missbee15:  I’m in a similar situation as you, trying hard to find shades that will go with DB’s sangria. I’m thinking of buying live purple and purple/white orchids for each table as the centerpiece, surrounded by tea lights. Like you, I’m trying a lot of DIY approaches to keep costs down. By having live flowers on the table, one person from each table can take the orchid home at the end of the night. 🙂

Something like this (http://www.teleflora.com/flowers/bouquet/telefloras-imperial-purple-orchid-372643p.asp) or the top photo here (http://www.purpleflowersaz.com/purple-orchid/) but cheaper and fuller-looking (my local grocery store sells them for $15 each).

Also, I’m not sure if you’re looking to do paper lanterns or not, but one of my bridesmaids found this fabulous link to make your paper lanters unique. I love the idea, especially since I’ve had trouble finding shades of lanterns that will match the sangria. I figure that by using various similar shades of tissue paper, I can acheive an interesting look.
