A few weeks ago I had my first fitting for my gown, and then Friday I went in for my final fitting. At the first fitting, the seamstress agreed that the front of my dress needed to be taken in one inch, and the back of my dress needed to be let out about a half inch. So we left my dress with them and I was super excited to get it back on Friday. So I go in on friday, and I put my dress on, and it doesn’t zip. I haven’t gained any weight, and it zipped just fine when I bought it. The seamstress looks at it and says “we have nothing left to let out”, and then proceeded to rip open the seam and show me, that there was literally nothing left to let out. It appears that they had taken the dress in by mistake and then trimmed off all the extra fabric.
On top of this, my dress was filthy. there were huge white marks all over the dress, and when this was pointed out the manager, she was furious. They then spot cleaned the dress and tried to get us to take it home, which my mom and I refused. They said they would deep clean it and we could get it on Monday. My grandma went in yesterday to pick up the dress (I had to go back to school) and I didn’t hear anything about how it went. Today around noon I get a phone call from David’s Bridal that my dress is now “spotless” I doubt it.
I am not sure what to do. If I don’t wear a bra, I can get my dress to zip (And i had the same bra on as the day I first got fitted) but its super tight. There is no way they can just order another dress either, because they stopped making this dress shortly after I bought it. 🙁
I am upset, and its making Fiance sad too, and he hasn’t even seen the dress.

@brandybelle: Oh hun, Im so sorry this is happening to you. A friend told me about this, so when it was time for my dress to get fixed to my messurements I took someplace else. DB is famous for doing this, apparently. I will totally fight them until they either give you a brand new dress that fits you the way is supposed to or get your money back. Fight them, hun, dont let them get away with it. You deserve to have your dress perfect fit on your BIG day!… GL

I have no advice other than making them refund you and getting a different dress from their store, or going on a diet =(

@MeiFrancis: A diet wouldn’t work, its my boobs that are the problem. My waist and hips and belly fit fine in the dress.
ETA: Its 2 months before the wedding, so I don’t know if I have time to find order and get fitted for another dress. :/

Make a scandal until they refund you or give you a new dress. You totally have time.
I would go to corporate. That usually works best.
here’re the board member names. google their emails

What about a minimizer? I truely can’t believe this happened. I would throw a sh#t fit about this. If it’s still not spotless, will your Grandma pick it up? I would tell her to leave it if it’s not. Did you take pictures?

What an awful thing to happen. If you can manage to fit in it without a bra perhaps do that but push for a big discount for compensation.
On the other hand is it possible do you think to take it to an experienced dressmaker and see if they can add anything in to make it better fit?

What a horrible thing to have happen 🙁
Have you considered getting it altered into a lace up? That might be some way to getting it to fit nicely.

@Nellop: If I get it altered to have a lace up, it will ruin the detailing in the back (see photo below)

@Blackie: Everything has been paid for in full already, $400 for the dress, and $375 for the awful alterations.
@HisIrishPrincess: What is a minimizer? and she won’t. She paid for the dress, and it was her favorite dress of all of them I tried on.

I can see why you are upset – it really is a most beautiful dress. God this is a difficult one I just don’t know what to suggest!
You could probably sort something about the fit but if it is dirty as well. I don’t know – maybe start again but oh I feel for you!

I absolutely wouldn’t pick it up, spotless or not. Even spotless, they ruined the dress by not doing the correct alterations – I just can see them saying you taking the dress home means you concede that you’re fine with the alterations and not getting a refund/anything done to fix the problem.
Ugh, I’m so sorry this happened!

OMG ok so this is what we are going to do.
First you need to figure out if you want THAT dress?
if you do:
1. Make sure they Super duper clean it.
2. We need to go on a proper diet to lose fat in the back and around the armpits. This will make you lose weight in the Boob area but not your actual boobs. ( i wasnt fat to begin with)
this diethelped me to remove the fat from around the bra Area before my wedding. Chose one or alternate It wont be easy!!!!
So here goes the diet: Goodbye complex carbs. This will make your frame smaller in just a couple of weeks. So eat whatever you want but NO complex carbs: no candies, no cereal, no pasta, no bread, no potatoes, no carrots, no granola no chips. Fresh fruits veggies and protein.
Egg whites are great!!!
This diet will actually make you super hot. If you can do Pilates do it do it all the time everytime you want. If not go on youtube and do a 8 minutes arm workout do it while you watch tv or you work and make sure it has exercise for homoplates and remember all day to keep your ribs tight as you can and to push your belly button all the way to your back.
In two months….the dress will be a little big on you if you do this right without losing your boobs.

Um demand they order you a new dress… are they not responsible for their mistakes?
