not the same size as you – but as far as DB sizes go…in my case they were not close…I wear a size 12 in “street clothes” (and a lot of ‘juniors’ sizes) but had to go up to a size 16 plus at DB. Mainly my issue is that I have very broad shoulders. I ended up having it altered at the waistline a lot, but they shoulders were almost too small!

I actually tried on a few regular size 12’s and 14’s – and they fit great around the middle – but I couldn’t zip them up past my mid back. 🙁

Honestly, a few 18’s fit, shoulder wise, but of course were way too big in the middle…

Just remember, though, the number on that tag doesn’t mean a thing as long as you look gorgeous in it, which I’m sure you will!

I wear a size 18, and I fit with their undergarments in a size 20.  My sister is a street size 16 but has a large bust, she had to go with an 18.  My Maid/Matron of Honor is a street size 12, and most of the dresses fit her in size 12 but she has a smaller frame than my sister and I.

When I tried on wedding dresses there, it wasn’t too far off from my street size.  I normally wear a 14 or 16 (depending on the brand) and I was able to fit into a 14, but was more comfortable in a 16, so I ended up getting the 16.  It also has a corset back so if I were to gain or lose a little bit of weight it would still fit either way.

I’m a little larger than you and while I don’t have any photos of me in David’s Bridal, here I am in some Alfred Angelo dresses.

The fit really depends on your body type. I wear a 26 in street clothes, and should fit into David’s Bridal 26W. However, I’m close to an hourglass shape, and the dresses seem cut for pears/apple shapes since that is what most women are. All of them fit fine on the bottom, were fine in the waist, and too small on top.

I’m about the same size as you, and my DB dress was actually a size 22. I’m smaller on top with bigger hips (pants I wear a 24/sometimes 26, but I have several 16/18 shirts), and it was an a-line dress, so I think that’s why the 22 worked. The only alteration I needed was to have the halter straps shortened.

Not the greatest pic (it’s just from my MIL’s cameral), but here’s my actual dress:

I am a street size 20, and ending up purchasing an 18W at DB.  It is a zip up and is a little tight at the top (I have some bodacious ta-tas), but I really do plan on losing a few before my wedding day.

When I first started shopping for dresses, I thought that there was no-way I could rock a mermaid style – but I totally do and I am thrilled.  So don’t be afraid to try on dress style syou are unsure about.  DB is a great place to do that since they have so many larger sizes to try on.
