Is anybody planning a party/event for the day after your wedding? I have been considering it, but want to know what you all think. The racetrack happens to be nearby our recpetion, so I was thinking of having a “day at the races” gathering the following day for all who wanted to come. (Not the entire wedding – just close friends and family). I figure it’s a nice thing to do to remenisce about the fun from the night before. We wouldn’t leave for our honeymoon until Monday anyways. Just curious.

I think they are fun and a great way to spend extra time with your guests before they all go back home. We didn’t organize anything official but a bunch of our friends all were planning to eat at a ‘get your hands dirty’ type of seafood restaurant so we helped to spread the word and went there for lunch as well to see everyone.

Yes, we’re having a post-wedding party. My parents are hosting a BBQ at their home. We plan on opening our gifts then and getting a chance to spend some quality time any family and friends that stay overnight. We’re not leaving for our honeymoon for a week so we have the time.

Yes, we are. Since the day after our wedding is Memorial Day, we’re having a BBQ at my parents’ house. It’s going to be informal and anyone who wants to drop by can. I don’t think there will be a gift-opening, since we are leaving for our honeymoon that day. They’ll just have to stay wrapped until we get home!

My brave Mama is hosting a brunch open house the day after the wedding for all of the out of town people. What a lady!
I think that we will be expected to open gifts… I’d love to just be able to spend a little more time with those who have traveled from near and far to be with us for our big day!

We are! His parents will host a backyard bbq, which will be a much less formal affair than the wedding itself. I think it will be a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to that, since the day of the wedding I am sure my head will be spinning!
But, I should also point out, we’re not really doing an engagement party, shower, etc, so it’s not like we’re piling on the events/expenses.

The day after our wedding will be a Monday and we figure everyone will be traveling back so I think we are just planning on everyone meeting up for breakfast before they start their travels. I think a race day sounds like fun! The BBQs too… We are doing a BBQ the day before we all drive to the wedding site. It’ll be fun because our sides haven’t meet and it’ll give them a chance to get to know each other and decide they don’t like each other before the wedding:)
