Mine is my MOH’s niece.  She is doing it for free, someday she wants to do a wedding planning as a career.  I do plan on getting her a gift though

Mine was $1500, which was a really good deal for Santa Barbara.  She ws technically just a Day Of Coordinator, but She was available throughout the whole planning process for my questions and emails.  She was great and I wouldn’t have been able to do the day without her.  When I signed the contract I figured it was a wedding gift to myself so I woulnd’t have to stress or worry about anything on the Big Day.  I’m SOOO happy I got her and would definitely recommend it to brides, if it’s in your budget.  If you can’t find an “official” coordinator I would enlist friends to help out ont he day.  I had so many friends offer their help in the week leading up to the wedding.

I think mine is 1500$ as well. She does the day of, as well as the rehearsal, and she has been available for me to bounce ideas off of. I think I officially meet with her once or twice a month or so before the wedding, and she confirms all my vendors and all that for me. Also she has done weddings at my venue before which is great bc the guy who owns the venue (which is just land, really, near his house) is kind of weird and hippie-ish.

I also view it as a gift to myself. Peace of mind is priceless!

@Sassygrn: I am doing something similar. One of my very dear friends is an Admin at my company and is constantly planning company events and scheduling things like food, etc. so I asked her if she would be my Day Of Coordinator. She was thrilled I asked her but I know I am also taking her away from her family for pretty much the whole day and evening so I will be getting her a very nice thank you gift. I think she would be offended and would even feel awkward if I tried to pay her but with a very nice thank you gift, I think that is something we can both live with. I have looked at some really pretty pendants from Tiffany’s that aren’t that bad…about $200.

I’m not sure if getting a family member or friend to do this is an option and the size of your wedding could have a huge impact on that decision. We are having a very small wedding …27 people (my kids and grandkids, his kids, his parents, our siblings, etc) and the wedding reception will be aprpox 60 people so I really just need someone to make sure that the clubhouse where we are having the receoption is set-up and decorated, the caterers are let in to set-up and someone to direct people along the way. 🙂

Mine is 500. 1500 if we hired her entirely as our wedding planner. She is a friend of my sister’s husband so that may be why it seems a lot cheaper than others when everything else up here is sooo expensive.
