I’m trying to figure out how much a day of coordinator should cost so that I can properly negotiate. I have no idea how much these services should cost. Thanks in advance! If there are specifics I need to know to figure out a good cost range, please let me know that also:)

I think this is one thing you can negotiate pretty often. Since I didn’t NEED a day-of coordinator, I didn’t want to spend more than I budgeted for. I got $200 off my services but I also got quotes from others who took off $300. They tend to lower the cost if your wedding is smaller. Like anything else though, it depends on where you live. Hope that helps!

Another option if the budget gets really tight (the option we decided on) is to figure out if you know anyone that could do this for you. My mom happens to have a friend who is already invited to the wedding who loves planning events and also is very good at making sure things are perfect and done properly so she said she’d make sure all deliveries and decorations went smoothly.

I haven’t hired one yet but I’m meeting with a potential DOC on Monday and I think she’s going to quote me $600 if her website is any indication. That’s in Baltimore, for the record.

Mine is 1100, but she’s been doing a crazy amount of things that I didn’t expect. I was worried since my wedding is not in my hometown. Do you have a family friend or someone u could hire? A friend of mine was a Bridesmaid or Best Man in a wedding and that bride (knowing I was also planning a wedding) asked if I would help set up for her wedding, which I did. She gave me a really sweet present and it wasn’t hard. Plus I was happy to help. Could you find someone like that?

@nighthawk: Most planners here in Atlanta start around $1500 for DOC. The title is really a misnomer because they put at least 30 hours of work into getting ready for the wedding. You can’t just have someone show up for the first time the day of the wedding and expect them to know what’s going on, they have to be involved a few months beforehand.
I’m a photographer in town and know lots of great planners, so if you need any recommendations, PM me and I’d be glad to help!!

I would do a little inquiring with family & friends unless the budget isn’t an issue…
My aunt plans weddings and is going to act as day of coordinator for me. I’m sure we’ll get her something nice as a thank you, but we don’t have to *pay*.
