I think it’s a great way for her to get experience and for you to save big on a coordinator! For my own sanity I’d maybe have a back-up plan just in case things don’t work out, though– like a trusted person to step in on the day-of if things are stressing you out.

I’ve heard brides having luck with vendors who are starting in the business. I would say being in a lot of weddings and being able to coordinate one are two different things. I would look more closely at the quality of work she delivers as an EA over being in weddings. Is she organized? Does her quality of work match your expectations? Does she think quickly? I think it’s not only executing the vision but also being able to solve problems without your direct supervision and even better without you knowing there was a problem at all.
