8-9:00am– Vendors arrive and take care of respective set-up/responsibilties

10:00am– Begin portraits

11:00am– Ceremony begins

11:30am– Bridal Party & family finish photos while guests head to reception area

12:00pm– BBQ lunch is served, buffet style

12:45pm– Toasts

1:00pm– Dessert is served (no cake cutting, we are serving cobbler)

1:15pm– First dance

@headoverhighheels:  That one is going to be difficult. What is the venue set up like? Do they have back gardens, back exits. Are you doing your own makeup?

Just as a warning: I’ve been to many wedding where people start leaving right after the cake cutting so I recommend doing that at the very begining of the rehearsal (before dinner) or at a time when you would be okay if people started leaving.

  • 2:00 – first look & group pictures
  • 5:00 – ceremony
  • 5:30 – games/cocktails/Hors d’oeuvres
  • 7:00 – 1st dance, parents dance
  • 7:15 – everyone to tables, preacher says grace
  • 7:30 – Bridal party and family to dinner 1st, then trivia questions to release to dinner
  • 8:00 – toasts, invite to dance
  • 9:15 – “cut the cake” & start dessert & more dancing
  • 9:45 – thai lanterns
  • 10:00 – more dancing
  • 11:30 – bon-fire/smores

I didn’t have a coordinator either, and my ceremony and reception were across the street from each other (park and historic building). We had a late ceremony, so I know the times get late, but the guests were already aware of this. This was my timeline (and we stayed pretty close!):

(Boys spent the morning doing some last-minute set-up and hanging out, going out to lunch, etc)

8:45AM – BMs and family arrive at Mom’s house

9:00AM – hair and make-up artists arrive at Mom’s house; breakfast available

Hair and Make-up for 5 BMs, bride, mom, aunt, grandmother

12:00PM – lunch arrives at Mom’s house; hair and make-up leave

1:30PM – travel to “getting ready location” (rented house) in wedding town (45 mins away)

2:15PM – arrive at rented house/buffer time

3:30PM – photographers arrive at rented house for girls (and hotel room for boys’ pictures) for getting ready pics (make-up touch-ups, putting on the dresses, etc)

4:30PM – First Look pictures at reception venue

5:00PM – Wedding Party pictures

5:45PM – pre-ceremony down time

6:30PM – Wedding Ceremony

7:00PM – Outdoor Cocktail “Hour”

7:30PM – Reception begins/Toasts

8:00PM – Dinner

9:00PM – First Dance

9:30PM – Cake Cutting

10:00PM – Give Away Bouquets (instead of Bouquet Toss)

10:30PM – Sparkler Send-Off
