If you’re looking for something affordable, try looking on Lifebooker.com to see where you can get a good deal — you can save a lot of money that way.  Just make sure to do your research on the places you find there (like on Yelp or something) because sometimes they are more functional than spa-like.

I second Great Jones Spa. Just took fiance there for Christmas. They have a “waters lounge” with hot & cold plunge pools, sauna & steam room, and snacks. You get to relax as long as you’d like. It really extends the spa experience!

Great Jones Day Spa is awesome!

Also Red Door and Mandarin Oriental.
