Okay so we’ve been looking for an evening wedding… and we found a gorgeous venue that miraculously is in our budget (due to a november 2012 date) but it’s during the day- Saturday afternoon. To get married at this venue in the evening it would have to be on a Sunday(which ends WAY too late… 12:30 am, I won’t do that when guests have work in the morning), or wait until november 2013. I’d rather get married this year ( of course!!!). We also looked at July 2013… but for a saturday evening we need a 150 minimum (we were thinking 125 max) and it’s $25 MORE per person… So it’s basically this nov sat 125 ppl…. or july 2013 150 ppl… the july would be $9,000 more… NO WAYY that is happening!
Okay now back to the point… day weddings… opinions? Thoughts? We do have out of town guests and my mother brought up the point that they would have to leave a bit earlier in the AM but would be able to also go home early since the wedding would be over by 5pm. I would love to do something afterwards with my friends, like go to the city or something!

I came across the same situation. I was NOT going to change my day, too much meaning behind it but the evening slot was taken. My wedding will be over by 4. My close family were grumbling about time. As I see it, it’s only one day! I’m sending out my STD so everyone has more than enough time to request this day off. About 90% of my guest are coming from out of town, this should give them enough time to be back home and ready for the next day… or they can go to the “after party” house. I have a few options for houses to host that are close by :0)

I, personally, like the idea of day weddings. Sunshine makes me happy. We are having an outdoor wedding that will likely start in the early afternoon and extend into the night, but the daytime is what I’m really looking forward to.
Also, it might save you some money on alcohol, as people are less likely to drink as much during the day.
I say go for it. 🙂

Mines on a Sunday from 2-7! Nothing wrong with daytime 🙂

My reception was 1-5, and that timing was perfect. It was a heavy lunch, with primerib and shrimp, but you could also do an extended cocktail hour, with just lits of tiny bites. Personally, those meals are my favorite 🙂

Thanks ladies… the ceremony would be at 11:30 (so early!!!) and dinner.. er- lunch… would begin at 12:00 or 12:30… over by 5. I LOVE sunshine but I am worried no one will dance with sunlight pouring through the windows! Also, since it would be Saturday, November 17… the ceremony would be inside (unless it is crazy warm like it was this year!). All the food and alcohol is included in the package so no saving money there, darn! My cousin’s wedding was upstate on a Saturday at the same time… so my fiance and I went Friday night and stayed over so we would not have to drive in the AM. I’m figuring if people want to stay over they will stay the night before (guests from New Jersey & Canada). I love a day time wedding… I guess it just didn’t fit into what I ‘pictured’ my wedding to look like in my head!
