Hi everyone! Well, I’m hitched! We got married last Sunday. The ceremony was at 11am, followed by a cocktail hour, a brunch buffet, and a couple hours of dancing.
I just have to say – we LOVED the daytime wedding/reception and so did our guests. We saved a bit of money by doing it on a Sunday (not a ton, but a few thousand) and by having a shorter reception than your typical Saturday evening gig. Vendors were easier to find and book, especially since October is such a big wedding month here.
The food was excellent – brunch selections are always good and everyone just raved about the food.
The reception was fun, but obviously not quite the level of dancing you’d see at an evening reception. The DJ got everyone dancing to a few songs, then it was just a handful of people on the dance floor. What I didn’t expect was guests to start leaving – especially the ones with kids, but it didn’t really bother me. I think the guests didn’t really know how long they should stay, so we eventually had the DJ make an announcement that the last dance was coming up, and we cut it a few minutes early because it seemed like people were ready to go.
All in all – I loved the vibe of the daytime reception, and I liked that we weren’t too tired the rest of the day. We went to the B&B, changed clothes, and went for a nice walk. It was a great way to wrap up the day.
Just wanted to share for anyone thinking of doing a daytime reception 🙂
