Georgetown, in general, makes a great setting. Or maybe down by the waterfront.

The statue of The Awakening, which is now down at National Harbor.  This photo is from its old location at Haines Point. There are a lot of other really nice settings at National Harbor plus you can be in Old Town in about 10 minutes from there.

This picture doesn’t do the statue justice.

aimr0806:  My fiance and I took our engagement pictures are Great Falls. We went to the Maryland side of the park- there are lots of spots and hidden areas to take photos without other people in the background.

aimr0806:  I looked into National Arboretum for my e-photos too, and found that the permit fee is around $200 and takes a few weeks to get. That being said, the grounds are huge so you can likely get by without getting caught by the staff if your photographer is comfortable with working around the rules (mine was not). Other locations:

– Constitution Gardens

– DC War Memorial (nearby the Gardens, mall, monuments, etc so lots of variety!)

– Fletcher’s Boat House in Georgetown

– Gravelly Point Park (if you can catch the planes taking off, its pretty neat)

– Franciscan Monastery

– National Portrait Gallery

– Union Market

– National Zoo

Just keep in mind that I believe you technically need a permit for photographing any of the monuments…or you can just tell your photographer to hide his/her camera when the rangers come around ๐Ÿ˜‰

Down by the tidal basin is one of the most beautiful places in DC, otherwise the ones I would name have been taken (the Arboretum, Old Town, etc.)! Good luck, it looks like you have quite a bit to work with!

aimr0806:  Dumbarton Oaks doesn’t allow engagement photography. I took clients there for an engagement session last year, and we were nicely but firmly escorted out.

I take clients to: JFK center for permorning arts, Smithsonian Gardens/Enid A. Haupt Gardens, Glenview Mansion in Rockville, McCrillis Gardens, Old Stone House in Georgetown, National Mall, etc.
