blackinthesuburbs:  I live in NOVA and while I didn’t have a hotel wedding (mine was a country club ceremony and reception), I would check out Hotel Monaco in Old Town, Alexandria!  I’m not sure about the price, but it’s a gorgeous hotel with a really nice courtyard you could have the ceremony in depending on month.

(Philly area) A few I found in my research that are reasonably priced:

Concordville Inn

Radnor Hotel

Desmond Hotel

Highly reccomend Radnor hotel out of those 3.

TBH, you are going to have a really hard time finding anything under $100 pp in a 30 min radius of the city.

blackinthesuburbs:  Don’t mind at all ๐Ÿ™‚  It’s a little further out from DC- but we used Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, VA.  To solve the drinking issue-we rented a bus and had 3 hotels blocked about 20 minutes away in Manassas, VA.  It worked out really well and everyone loved the bus concept.

Evergreen was super affordable.  We had just about 100 people and paid less than $60/person and that included an open bar.

blackinthesuburbs:  You’re welcome ๐Ÿ™‚  It’s a beautiful venue and the friend and her boyfriend who caught the bouquet/garter at my wedding ended up getting married a year later at the same venue ๐Ÿ™‚

Let me know if you have anymore questions ๐Ÿ™‚  It was very affordable.

blackinthesuburbs:  Delaware doesn’t charge sales tax, so you might want to look there. My daughter married in DE, and other than the apparel, all the vendors were in DE. She saved thousands.

Phila. has an 8% sales tax and it might be 10%, on the alcohol portion.

blackinthesuburbs:  Hotel duPont, Sunday night, which at the time was around $50 pp cheaper than Saturday night. Oddly enough, she just booked it (3-day summer holiday weekend) because it was the only date available, in the time period she was looking for. They had a 12 month engagement and Saturday nights at popular venues can be booked a couple of years in advance.

I hear that Saturday afternoon is even cheaper, although if I remember correctly, the receptions are a bit shorter. The only issue with that is I think they have a 3:00 PM check-in, so traveling guests might have to stay over 2 nights. They give significantly discounted room block rates. Ours was for 52 rooms, about 45 of which were fairly local people, who stayed over for the convenience.

The ceremony was in their smaller ballroom upstairs. Their main ballroom is exquisite – I love historic architecture. People are still raving about the wedding and their food, years later.

P.S. Tom, at http://celebrationsdesigngroup.com/ for flowers, decor, chair covers, etc. And we used http://www.bvtlive.com, for music for both daughters’ weddings.
