We weren’t in DC proper, but I have stayed at a couple good ones over the years–Hotel Palomar in Dupont is pretty swank and the Sheraton Four Points is nice too.

Pick a place that is close to your reception. You want to be close by in case you want to do some extra hanging out with friends if you reception doesn’t go too late. But if it is late, you will be exhausted and you’ll want to get to the hotel ASAP!

Where is your wedding being held?

Our wedding was at the Hotel Palomar so our block was naturally there – it was a good deal and service was amazing.  I also blocked a few rooms at the Marriot up CT Ave because it was cheap and I thought some people might want to stay there. No one did.

If it were just for you for the wedding night, I’d see if Swann House B&B can take you – it’s gorgeous and totally romantic.

We’re staying at the Ritz Carlton in Georgetown…it was part of our reception package.  I would say check out the W, Monaco, The Willard…there are soooo many to choose from.

For my wedding night, I wouldn’t stay at the W – the rooms are small and I haven’t experienced anything but mediocre or poor service from people there (people not affiliated with the spa, which I adore).

The W has a nice lobby but, I know for me anyway, making sure my guests got bang for their bucks was important – with how tiny their rooms were…no way.  It is also very touristy, which isn’t my thing.  Not to mention how rude they were when I was had them on my list for my wedding.  I actually wouldn’t stay at a W because of my experience at the DC one.  But again – I LOVE Bliss.

Another Kimpton more centrally located is the Monaco.  Also beautiful.  I didn’t have a good experience with them when I was checking it out for my wedding, but the location is second to none to explore DC.  And it’s a Kimpton which are always nice to stay in.
