khaleesi101014:  I’ll have to take a look at the venues I researched last year and I’ll get back to you.

How come you don’t want to go to Baltimore? It’s only about an hour north of Fairfax.

We got married at Bluemont Vineyards in Bluemont, VA, and it was absolutely wonderful and beautiful!  They do an outdoor ceremony overlooking mountain valleys and vineyards, and they have a beautiful, rustic indoor space for the reception (and in case of rain for the ceremony).  The food was amazing, and we still get compliments on our wedding from guests.  It’s about an hour from Fairfax – just straight up Route 7 North.

Honestly, I think you’ll have a tough time. One thing we found that saved a ton of money was finding a non-traditional venue. Is there a bar you like? If they have a private room you can typically get a great deal if your reception is over by 10. My venue is out of budget (in Arlington, so close by) but I’m sure you could find something near you that works.

How about JR Steakhouse in McLean? They look like they could be in budget and there is a park close by where you could have the ceremony.

khaleesi101014:  How about Trummers on Main (Clifton, VA)? That’s about 20 mins southwest of Fairfax. You can probably find a park or something nearby for the ceremony, since the space doesn’t fit your vision for your ceremony.

I wanted to have my reception here, but the place was too small (it should fit your guests though!). I wish I knew the prices. I would think it’s less expensive than traditional venues since it’s a restaurant.

dojx:  We looked at Trummer’s. It’s really nice and food is good.

khaleesi101014:  One of the wineries  I mentioned before is nearby (not walking). Maybe they will allow you to have the wedding earlier in the day, then the reception at Trummer’s.

And I can’t believe 2941 has gone up so much in 5 years! It was $75 pp and we did drinks based on consumption. The thing that killed us was the passed hors’d–$3 a peice!

We had this same issue before we got married in Oct. 2013. We searched high and low for a venue, so I hope this helps.

We got married at a church in Fairfax, however we had our reception at Westfields Golf Club in Clifton, VA. We orginally wanted to get married at a Manor, with mountain views, but the costs were extreme compared to the golf club. The golf club is affilated with the Westfields Marriott in Chantillly, VA as well, and that is where our guests stayed. (We got a shuttle to take them there).

The golf club is very affordable, and they do all their catering on site, with a built in bar. Their coordinator is amazing, and will let you do just about anything you dream for your big day. She (Audrey) will friend you on pinterest as well, to help with the big day. They do have various ceremony sites as well on the golf club property.

The Westfields Marriott, doesn’t even look like a hotel, and can do the wedding ceremony/reception there as well.

Good Luck, and Congrats!

Patuxent Greens is located directly in Laurel, MD between Baltimore, MD & Washington, DC making it an ideal destination for businesses from across the state. We are finishing the final stages of over a million dollars in renovations this December. The clubhouse was redesigned into a modern and elegant space, which is decorated in a neutral palate to compliment every events unique style. The multiple rooms within the clubhouse are great for meetings, parties, seminars, and almost any style of event. The full clubhouse can hold groups from 10-250 guests.

We are also hosting a FREE Bridal Open House on 8/23. If you are interested, register here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1KheS-bAyZFD_cTbeSVRTcKg0giSEiy2dh8nRHZEoXB8/viewform
