- Wedding: October 2010
I’ve been lurking here for awhile, but I thought my experience yesterday was worth finally breaking out of my comfort zone & actually posting.
Like a lot of (most?) plus-sized brides, I was dreading dress shopping (still am, really). I went to David’s Bridal to try on a bunch of styles to see what works on my body. Some of the dresses were ok, but the service I had left me sort of cold.
I stumbled across a shop in Columbia, MD called Curvaceous Couture, which carries designer samples only in plus sizes. It was awesome to go into a shop full of dresses and know that I could fit into all of them and wouldn’t have to just hold them up and guess what they’d look like on me.
I fell in love with two dresses by Manuel Mota/Pronovias.

The two sisters who run it are super nice. I would never have picked those dresses to try on, but when they pulled them & I put them on I felt beautiful. My mom is coming to visit in a few weeks and we’ll be going back so she can see them. I think one of them might be “the dress”!
Anyway, it’s a long first post, but I just wanted to share it with any brides in the greater Baltimore/Washington area who might be plus sized.
