- Wedding: August 2010
I confess I am a lurker, and I really lurked these boards while I was planning my wedding to find some vendors. Since I actually did find some really great vendors here, I figured that I’d pass it forward. I will likely post more in depth reviews some other time, but for now I’ll just say a few things about each. I could still be coming off some of the wedding buzz, but I really think that each of these vendors were really great and made my wedding day beautiful and memorable.
Venue (ceremony, reception), hotel, food, cake, wedding coordination: Hotel du Pont, Wilmington, DE. The biggest reason why I went with Hotel du Pont was because they included the most in their package. Plus since everything was in one place, I didn’t have to worry about transportation and our contact, Jillian, was amazing. More than 2/3 of my total wedding budget went to these guys but it was worth it! Beautiful rooms and beyond superb service.
Flowers: Flowers by Mary Elizabeth, Landenberg, PA. Very reasonably priced and the flowers were great. I didn’t have strong opinions about flowers in general, so I just told her to do whatever she wanted as long as the flowers were fluffy, stayed with my colors and didn’t use branches. She complied with beautiful results.
Photography: Kate’s Lens Photography, Exton, PA. Mary Kate is super sweet, and I decided to use her because I felt the most comfortable with her. I haven’t received my pics yet (it’s been like 2 weeks) so I guess I can’t make an absolute final assessment.
Ceremony music: Appassionata String Quartet, West Chester, PA. Easy correspondence, good prices, and they played beautifully. I went with very traditional pieces, though, so that might have helped.
DJ: Rich from Cutting Edge Entertainment. The only reason we went with him is because he knew my husband in elementary school and offered us a small discount. But he kept the party going, so no complaints here.
Hair: Hair by Meghan. Another vendor that I got from the weddingbee boards. She was awesome. Very nice, very fast, and everyone’s hair stayed up the whole night.
Makeup: Makeup by Aleksandra. I saw one picture of a bride that she did (also on weddingbee boards) and I knew she was perfect for me. She made me, my girls, and my moms look fantastic.
Dress and Veil: Amanda Richie Bridal, Fallston, MD. It’s actually in MD near Baltimore, but I went there because my mom knows their seamstress who does their alterations (and she did mine too). I thought it was a great store. Kleinfeld level service, but with dresses under $2000 (I think).
Hope this is useful to someone out there! Happy wedding planning!
