What are your deadlines for things?
The way we are planning our wedding is drastically different because we are planning from abroad for a casual backyard wedding.
End of July – send out invitations and decide on a caterer. We finished invitations early and they were sent off today! We’ve only heard back from one caterer so if we haven’t heard back from anyone else, we’ll probably go with the one, and lock down a contract by the first week of August.
End of August – lock down rentals and sign a contract.
Mid-October – decide on our DIY flowers and find the best price (my mom is a florist!). Purchase all materials for crafting and setting up. Find a dress (off-the-rack) and rent a tux.
Any important deadlines you’ve set for yourself, October brides?

I’m being kind of organic and just taking things on in a sort of order of importance. First I did the venue, which is a restaurant so that took care of catering and rentals. Then photographer, hair and make-up, next was flowers. Yesterday I secured the hotel room for the night before and the night of the wedding. I’m off to my second fitting Thursday (already got the shoes). The invitations should be in next week. The next thing on the list is to make a date for the e-pics. Then I suppose it is time to start addressing invitations. On the way I have been making notes for what I will be doing with all the coming to do’s like oot bags, Maid/Matron of Honor gifts, and rehearsal dinner location possibilities (think we found one last night).
Maybe I should be more organized about it but it seems to be working out. Every now and then I check on a list that The Knot provides to make sure I am not forgetting anything.

I’m very type-A personality, so we have a huge spreadsheet of everything broken down into small categories and deadlines, with the hopes of having VERY LITTLE to do in the weeks leading up to the wedding. We have lots of friends and family coming from around the world, and I want to be able to enjoy time with them! This month, our deadlines are:
invited out- done
make appointment for menu tasting- done
assemble toiletries kits for bathrooms- in progress
book luncheon for girls- done
Make table numbers- Inlaws coming tonight to help
Make picture frames for church- inlaws tonight 🙂
decorate our vases for head table- in progress
purchase gifts for parents- have mom’s gifts, working on the dads
that’s it for this month 🙂

We want very little to do the week of since we have a some special international guests coming and want to hang out with them. I need deadlines or else things just don’t get done! I’m a procrastinator and also believe the best in people, even crappy caterers who never e-mail back and have me waiting around forever! /endrant.

We’re doing a destination wedding at a resort in Mexico, so the deadlines are a bit different, since most of our vendors were chosen for us. My big deadlines were invites out (June, done), dress (last dec), and photographer (done!).
