I don’t mean the actual answer was “maybe”, but I have some odd RSVP’s that I need to deal with simply because of seating issues. Right now my reception tables are almost perfectly full, so that one extra person or party showing up would mean… no place to sit at all. However, I’m on a budget, so I don’t want to overpay for all of the “maybes”, let alone have to rearrange my entire seating chart.
One of these was someone who told me “would I be mad if they said they could come and then couldn’t, because [insert situation here].” The other sent an email saying she would be there even though she is having financial issues, etc, and then the next week mailed her response saying “no”. When my mother spoke with her she said she forgot she mailed it (a week later?) but would try to be there. So I marked her down as a “no” since it seems like everytime she says “yes” she gives a huge excuse as a “just in case I can’t make it here is why.”
I really do need to know, but I don’t want to piss anyone off. What would you do, and have you dealt with anything similar?
