xokatiebee:  I am 22, and yes it’s honestly the WORST feeling. You’re so happy and then somebody comes along and knocks you off you’re cloud 9. I had a really bad relationship prior to this one and I was surprised to see how many people weren’t happy for me. I lost ALOT of friends and so did he. In the end yeah I’m young, so what? I know I want this…..people just need to learn the art of minding their own buisness.

xokatiebee:  Definitely been there with the negative comments, except even worse — from my future FIL! We got engaged at 21 and 22, will both be 23 at the wedding and my fiance’s father told him point blank that he wouldn’t mind if my fiance walked out on me on our wedding day because we’re too young! He also said we haven’t been together long enough (we’ve been together 4 years..) and that people weren’t made to be married. If you can guess, he went through a terrible divorce so I try not to take anything he says too personally. I was upset at first but we both know that we’re ready and WANT to be married so I’ve stopped listening to comments.

Overall, I’ve noticed that the people who actually know us as a couple are extremely supportive and the only ones who aren’t (i.e. his dad) are the ones who never bothered to get to know us together. Your coworker probably fits in that second category, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much! Ignoring the comments gets easier the longer you’ve been engaged, too.
