Last time, you were awesome with my wedding dress regrets. I decided to make the alterations… and now, the gown fits! I was looking for the perfect sash, and I found this beaded appliqué instead. It’s beautiful but I’m not sure if it is TOO MUCH.
What are your thoughts?

I personally think you should be going for a sash/belt that will soften the transition between the bodice fabric and completely different skirt fabric. To me it looks too cut-in-half, but with a sash (even just plain satin or something) it would look less odd (just MHO). As for the applique, it’s definitely too much with the dress, it divides it into three and just doesn’t seem to match the style of the rest of the dress at all :/ sorry!

I like it from the back with appliqué, but from the front it looks like it’s doing something funky with your boobs. But on second thought, maybe if it could be moved to “side-boob” more instead of sort of covering half it might look pretty neat!

It looks like it’s hiding part of the beautiful neckline. It’s just not quite meant to go with that dress, I think.

queenbee82: I’m going to be a little rude her but only b/c the dress alone is so gorgeous!!!
PLEEEEEEEEEASE ditch the applique!!! The front of it looks like creepy arms trying to grope you. The back is not AS bad, but it still doesn’t look like it “goes” with it. I actually think a champagne or light gold would be better than the silver, but I’m just a stranger on the internet!! Just my opinion!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Oh man, when I saw the applique from the front I severely disliked it – back is not so bad. I’d second doing a belt/sash to ease the transition from bodice to skirt. But heck no to the applique.

I agree with other commenters that it’s not doing so much for you from the front, but that it looks good from the back.
Could you tell me where you found this, though!? It’s an amazing find nonetheless.

I think if it only went to the top of the dress (or tucked under) it would look better than trailing down your bust. It would look more like a glittery strap. The back looks good though….

I agree with PPs. I dislike the applique with that dress. Especially from the front.
I also agree that a champagne or light gold would be a better complimetn to the dress for a sash or an applique.

I think the dress would look better without the applique.

if the applique were shorter and ended more at the top of your dress top, it’d look great!

MrsRevolutionize: the top is a Hayley Payge – from the Carrie gown. If you are interested let me know, since I am planning to upload it to PreOwned. It is brand new! It seems that I am not going to use it at all

fuif! I am so glad I found this web site… Such a helpful hive! I just called the seamstress to stop her from stitching the appliqué. The piece is beautiful, but defitenitely not for the gown.
thanks so much bees

Yeah I think a sash would look better. The applique looks a little too harsh to me.
