@PermaStudent:  I made the switch from an iPhone 4S to the Galaxy S3! I love it! I had had Apple phones since 2009 and I was looking for something completely different so I decided to try the Galaxy.

And I absolutely love it so far. I was originally gonna get the S4 but I decided to save a little money and go with the S3 and so far, I don’t have any regrets at all πŸ™‚

I love my S3 so much and I’m sure that if I had gone with the S4, I would have loved it even more since it’s supposed to be better than the S3.

I say go for it! I will say this though. If you have other Apple products like a Macbook or an iPad, you might have some trouble receiving texts from other iPhone users at first.

When I first got my Galaxy, texts from iPhone users were going to my iPad instead of my phone. In order to resolve that, I had to turn off iMessage on my iPad and also unregister my iPhone. Once I did that, the problem went away.

Good luck! πŸ™‚

I went from the iPhone4 to the Galaxy S3 a while ago and I haven’t looked back!  Fiance has the S4 and it’s pretty cool too. πŸ™‚

I just got the s3 for my bday last week and I love it!  It’s fast, you can add a memory card and it has “galaxy” which is like suri.

I’ve never had an iphone so i can’t speak in terms of comparison. i absolutely ADORE my galaxy though (s3). the only issue i have with it is i find the battery dies quite quickly now after 10 months of having it. i have to keep it plugged in at work. BUT i’m on it CONSTANTLY on my 1.5 hour commute to and from work so that probably doesn’t help. i think the battery issues are worth it because i love it in every other regard.

my fiance has an iphone and is thinking about switching to a galaxy.

I made the switch from the iPhone 4 to Galaxy S4… I really like it but I don’t think it’s as good as people say it is.  I got soooo tired of my iPhone (it got laggy and was sometimes unresponsive) but the GS4 is kind of laggy now too.  When I had the iPhone I really missed wigdets (I had the Motorola Droid before the iPhone) but they’re slow/laggy on the S4.  Plus, the iPhone is just more user friendly.  All the cool features from the commercials don’t work very well.  I tried to do all the cool photo settings (the action shot and stuff) but nothing came out right.  I admit that I am probably just doing it wrong lol!

I guess I rate them about the same… there are things I like about the iPhone and things I like about the S4 as well as things I dislike about both of them. If the iPhone and the S4 had a baby, I would be on that in a heartbeat!

Quick question to S4 users… What memory card do you use?  I had to take mine out because it was having issues with my phone… kept getting messages saying it needed to be formatted and how it wasn’t installed… Also, anyone have any tips to keep it from being laggy?  I keep shutting down apps I’m not using but I wonder if I got a lemon and should take it in to be looked at.

ETA: I don’t mean to sound so negative about the S4!  I do really like it, I just got excited about the hype around it coming out and it is not living up to my (admittedly high) expectations.  It is a great phone though and once I get a memory card that works with it I will be able to have all of my pictures and music on there… I will be much happier with it.

@PermaStudent:  ya it’s an easy enough fix. i just haven’t gotten around to it. the warranty doesn’t cover the battery but i think they’re only about $50 so i’ll get a new one eventually! it’s not enough to put me off the phone, i really love it!

I LOVE my new GalazyS4. I may be impartial, however, because I was just upgrading from the ‘old’ Galazy model, which I loved just as much.  Out of all the phones I have owned, this model/brand has been by far my favorite.  It is easy to use, etc.

My reasons for NOT embarking on the IPhone journey is because I have every other Apple product at home – two IPads, and two IPods, etc, which I also love.  I really felt as if an Iphone is just the same, so why not have a different phone?!

Good thread, I’m considering the switch as well. DH has had more problems with the iphone 5 than I can count, and he’s regretting the upgrade decision.
