I’m a Mom.  This makes me sad.  Frown  I hope my son never feels that way about me.

I was very close to my Mom; she passed away in 2001 and I still miss her every day.  You’re lucky to still have yours.

@Sugaree:   Oh.  That changes things.  A lot.

She sounds very annoying, lol.

I’m not close to my mother, either, although she only contacts me a couple of times a year, and it’s usually because she wants money.

@vorpalette:  Wow.  Seriously?  OMG, my mother was an absolute angel!  I was so lucky.

All this makes me think my son should nominate me for an Outstanding Mom of the Year award, lol.  He’s lucky to have me!  🙂

My mother and I have a rocky relationship but are ok for the most part, my father and i however, have a nearly nonexistant one.  Glad to see that you are an even stronger person from it.

My mom is legally blind, (macular degeneration) so she needs me to take her everywhere, read her mail, do stuff on the computer, fix broken stuff, set her alarm clocks when the power goes out and the time changes,… you get the picture…

But it can be a little irritating when she asks for one thing to do, such as going shopping, but then we have to go the bank, she has a cheque to deposit, then we go to the post office to mail a letter, we have to go to the drug store to drop off the prescription and then later pick it up oh, now it’s lunchtime, let’s go eat… All I knew was that we were going shopping, which takes about an hour or so, but I end up doing errands for 4-5 hours and she doesn’t warn me before hand, so there goes MY day. sigh.

But you have to love your mothers and your fathers, they did their best in raising you for 18 years or so, and they need you now that they are getting older and feeling the effects that aging brings and will bring to all of us.
