Taffeta is lighter in weight but makes a lot of noise. If you are getting married in August, the weight adn ehat of satin might be unappealing depending on your region and whether you will be outside.

I LOVED my satin dress, but it was sooooo hot, even in April, when we got married (and it was a cool day – the rest of the wedding party had to go inside to warm up, but I was nice and toasty!).  I can’t imagine wearing a satin dress in August, when it’s a lot warmer.

@sandyhill111:  Here you go (not the best picture, but just to give you an idea!).  I should say that when it was bustled, it did take some of the heat off, but by the end of the night, my back was aching.  Darling Husband was amazed when he carried it out to the car the day after that I had worn it all day.

I’ve never been a fan of taffeta because of that noise it makes, and I don’t like the way it feels either. I’d rather suffer a heavy satin dress and wear a hoop underneath.
