I’m getting married on December 15th. Both families live about 3 hours away and will have to book a hotel for at least one night if they are attending our wedding. Our hotel room block expires one month before our wedding date. When should I mail out my invites and what date should I write down as a RSVP?

The standard timeframe is 6 to 12 Weeks in Advance of the Wedding… a lot will depend on the following items
1- How far away does the farthest Invite have to go to and the RSVP back from
2- How much notice ahead does your Venue / Caterer require for numbers (this will determine what date you put down for your RSVP)
3- And if you had to cut down your Guest List substantially… will you be using a B-List of Invitees
Hope this helps,

I am in the same exact pridicament. I was going to send save the dates out but time slipped away from me. So what I did was create a website on theknot.com that has all the travel, hotel, air, bus, train, driving information. Then I emailed the link to that webesite to all my out of town guests via facebook letting them know that a formal invitation would follow later in the mail. This will allow them to find the information and book travel if they wish to come. Then i will send all the invites out at 6 weeks. Hope that helps.

Also getting married on the 15th of December (YAY!!!!)…..My family all lives in the area, but my FI’s family is from over 3 hours away. My plan is to have them all mailed by September 15th (my birthday…double yay!!!).
This gives guests a good amount of time to get response cards back in.

I’m getting married on the 15 as well. I will be sending out my invites, like Shanshan1719 by September 15. I hope to have guests RSVP by October 15 as we will have to finalize our number of guests by November 2.
I have guests coming from across the country as well as from Australia, so I have been telling family and friends our wedding date for the past year.

Our date is 12/15 as well, and we sent ours out 9/15. We’re giving our guests until 11/17 to RSVP. I thought it sounded a little long, but our venue doesn’t need the final numbers until the week of the wedding, and the cut off for hotel rooms is 12/1. My Fiance is from the area, I’m not. So most of my family will be staying in the hotel. It’ll be an interesting weekend, that’s for sure! I’m getting excited!

My date is the 16th December but I have already sent out a save the date video and most guests ave confirmed their availability.
So I’ll be sending out the formalm invites end October. But since you don’t mention STD’s, I would recommend you send it out ASAP so that you can get the RSVP’s in case there are some who can’t make it and you will then have to to send and get RSVP from alternative guests.
