@MrsHovzilla:  Aww, I love these comic strips. My mom used to collect them and tape them all around the house.

@MrsMoksha:  yeah, that’s what I’ve found…so much conflicting information. Thanks for your message!! I think we’ll just giver next weekend and hope for the best 😉

eta: I haven’t tried the opk’s yet. I’m charting for the 1st time and if it doesn’t happen this month I’m going to try those. Gosh, 2 months ago I thought I just had to have unprotected sex. Who would have known it was a science!

@MrsHovzilla:  thanks for the advice! I quickly googled SMEP and it turns out that’s what we’ve been doing this cycle anyway! I didn’t know it was an actual “thing”! We started doing EOD on CD4 when AF finished. Got a positive OPK yesterday (CD14). We had already BD’d the night before so we did it again the night of the + OPK. We are planning to BD tonight and tomorrow as well. So, that would be 4 days in a row in my fertile window. I was thinking of adding in Saturday for good measure but then I see the SMEP method recommends skipping a day? Whats the idea behind skipping the day before going for one last try?

@MrsMoksha:  It looks like its giving you a day off and then that last day is “just in case” you have a late O.

@MrsHovzilla:  so the day off is just a day of rest? No physiological reason to take it off if you feel up to BD’ing?

@MrsMoksha:  This is what I read in the book:

“Then skip one night, and try one last time.

You need a break, but you also need a last-chance bonus round.

The thing about the LH surge is that it has only set in motion the process of ovulation. This process can be interrupted by

Stress
Illness
Travel
Upset
Diet
Overwork

If your body determines, “Holy moly, this is NOT a good time for this gal to be pregnant,” it will delay ovulation. If ovulation is delayed too long, your body will skip it. This can cause an early period, a late period, a heavy period, a light period—but generallysomething will feel out of sync.

But this is why we skip a night and try one last time. If your ovulation has been delayed for any reason, this last try is the one that will catch it. For some of us (and I am one of those), our high-stress lifestyles mean that ovulation isn’t aways when you think it will be. Stopping too early is what caused me almost a year of failure.

If you’re having trouble with the three days in a row, if it seems too hard or too much sex, check out tips and tricks (and how to turn a trick like a Red Light District street walker) for ideas on keeping the baby dance lively and fun rather than difficult and rote.”

@MrsMoksha:  My doctor told me that if you BD AFTER the +OPK, your chances of conception go down as opposed to BDing before the +OPK. Since sperm can live for days, if you have sex before the positive OPK, the sperm will be waiting for the egg to drop and fertilize it. Though you can never have too much sex when trying to conceive!  Good luck! My hubs was like “you just want me for my sperm” by the end of my scheduled fertile time! So romantic! Haha

@Wed2Attn:  My DH knows I mostly want him for his sperm right now. Lol. We are normally once or twice a weekers! I throw in a BJ every now and then so he thinks I’m a wanton sex goddess but let’s be honest….I have baby rabies.
