Maybe you could just stay on the pill a little longer? I was on it for roughly 7 years, and I always hated the thought of the hormones going into my body. I’m just now coming off of it, so I can’t really say much as I haven’t noticed any changes yet. Have you considered getting an IUD? They have some that don’t have any hormones at all, and can be taken out anytime if you decide you want to have kids. & if you decide not to have kids, I think they last roughly 10 years or so.

@Sparkle030:  You’ll only know when you stop… good luck with going off of it!

@Sparkle030: Thank you! I’m not really a fan of pumping my body with medication in general (I avoid pharmaceuticals unless absolutely necessary) yet I’ve been taking hormones for such a long time… I just think getting off of it to give my system a break and to prepare it for pregnancy in the future is the best way for me (and my fiancé) to go.

Best of luck with everything! 🙂

@Sparkle030:  What reasons did he give to discourage it, and what do *you* think? In other words, if you want to go off, go off and find an alterative that works for your relationship and lifestyle.  I don’t understand why he would discourage you, I guess.

I was on the pill for 10 years, then went off and was off for 2 years, then went back on for 4 and recently went back off (January).  Both times I went off, my period returned the very next month and was bang on regular since.  This time, the reason was libido.  While I was on it the first time, I didn’t know any different since I went on it at age 16 for endometriosis.  I had NO libido for 10 years, and was *shocked* when I went off….I was like, “THIS is how I was supposed to feel all this time??? WTF.”  Anywhoo…..I went back on and boom, libido dropped like a rock.  Changing pills didn’t help, nor did the patch or ring.  I went back off permanently in January of this year, eagerly awaiting my libido to hopefully return.  Just this month I’m feeling the positive changes!  The first 2-3 months my periods were a bit longer and heavier than while on the pill, but in the last 3 months my period has been moderate, 48-72hrs.  I can live with that! 🙂

If the pill works for you, great…but there are other great alternatives to consider if you don’t want hormones (or that level of hormones).
