My SO and I have committed to a split shank halo. Probably rose gold.
My head is spinning…I have so many stones that I absolutely love but I just can’t commit to one!
On my list are:
A 3.21 unheated green sapphire (sorta square radiant shaped).
A 2.38 unheated light blue sapphire (oval with a little bit of a cushion shape, the color of my late dad’s eyes :’)).
A 3.62 carat unheated radiant tanzanite.
A 3.9 peachy pink tourmaline in the perfect cushion shape (I don’t know if it’s heated or not, if it is I don’t want it, Idk it’s important to me.)
A 3.44 unheated Mandarin garnet, honey colored.
Various amora gems, a 3 carat AVC, a 2.5 or 3 carat H&A cushion, or a 2.5 carat asscher.

littlegnome: I’m worried about the stones that aren’t sapphires being too soft. I wanna wear this every day and I’m pretty rough on my hands.

They all sound lovely. Do you have a sentimental attachment to any of the gemstones? MOHS scale placement would be a consideration for me but I could see myself picking a softer gem due to the stronger attachment.

personally, I love the sound of the green sapphire because we we’re looking at emeralds/peridot halos in rose gold rings at the start of ring shopping. I love the combo of green stone with rose gold 😊
also sapphires are a tough stone which makes them a good gemstone to get in an e-ring!

NFLwidow: idk, i’ve had these saved for a while. I guess i’ve just been looking at all of them for too long. the blue sapphire looks like my dad’s eyes, so i think i’m gonna go with that 🙂

Ah. I wouldn’t have ever thought to get marital bling that reminds me of my dad, but, hey, if it works for you, go for it. It’s a lovely shade of blue!

NFLwidow: yeah, it’s kinda weird. he’s the one that really got me into jewelry and gemstones. i was a big tomboy before he bought me my first piece of nice jewelry when i was 12 i think…after that it was all over.

I like the green. The reasoning behind the blue is a bit…odd. But whatever floats your boat. I would try putting each stone next to rose gold even if you have to do some Photoshopping.
