You already have the chastity ring, mind as well wear that.  By The Way, sounds like a fun summer!

Agreed–you might as well wear the chastity ring, since you already have it. What type of stone is that? It’s so pretty!

I voted chastity ring since you already have it, but I’ve changed my mind and would go with buying a cheap substitute. You’ve had the chastity ring since you were 16, and I assume there is some sentimental attachment. Since the whole point is not wanting to ruin/lose/have it stolen, I don’t know that you’d want to use that ring, either. I would just buy something simple, fake, and cheap as a placeholder.

@Amaryllis: I agree!  I think there’s probably some sentimental attachment and if you lost or ruined it, it would be devastating.  I would get a cheap replacement and then, if you lose it or something, it won’t be as much of a loss.

Ask yourself how you would feel if the chastity ring were stolen..  if you wouldn’t be too bothered, wear it.  Otherwise buy a cheap substitute.  Have a great time!

I agree with the other posters. Because of its sentimental value, I would go with a very cheap substitute.

Maybe you could buy an inexpensive band style ring. That way you don’t have to worry about breaking any stones and being left with no ring to wear.

I like this one (only $26):http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/14k-Gold-over-Silver-Filigree-Ring/3381049/product.html

Tanzanite is pretty soft, I’d be worried about hurting such a special ring.

PS. Your ring is one of the ones I remember specifically because it so SO unbelievably beautiful. I totally agree with your choice not to risk that bad boy!

I voted for a substitute.  Your chastity ring is obviously very important to you as well and you wouldn’t want to ruin it either.  Especially if it’s tanzanite, it could get damaged as I have heard it’s a fairly soft stone.  I would get a plain band, or a metal band in a design of some sort. Then you don’t have to worry!

I also vote for a substitute.  I had a stand in for travels out of the country – but got a CZ replica.  In hindsight I should have just worn a plain band.

Wear something that has little meaning. Seriously – as a field biologist that worked in remote parts of the world, I would say only bring with you jewelry that you don’t mind destroying/losing. The sentimentality of the chastity ring is just setting yourself up for big disappointment. I would really just get a plain band with no stone or prongs – it’ll stay cleaner, and have less meaning if lost or super scratched.
