For some reason I can’t seem to choose between an oval and an elongated radiant stone (very different I know). I originally wanted a cushion cut, but eliminated that option since it seemed like I would need to go up a .5 carat to be happy with the size. Both stones are around 1.5 carats and in the G-H range. At the store, we held the stones over a rose gold band for a better idea of what it would ultimately look like (pictures shown below). I love the shine of the radiant stone but I’m also digging the geometric facets of the oval (rather than the crushed ice effect).
Any input or anything I’m not considering? At the end of the day, I think I would be happy with either. Also, I wouldn’t get this exact band, but something in rose gold with a similar texture, no halo, no pave. Thanks all!

They are both beautiful so good news is you can’t go wrong. I’m partial to the oval. I prefer rounded stones. I wanted an oval but my husband chose a round brilliant. Go with your gut. If you wanted a cushion I’d say the shape of the radiant is closer to that but the cut of the oval is closer. So depends on what you liked best about the cushion! Good luck.

I am a cushion girl and I’d go with the radiant. They’re less common than ovals as I feel there was an oval trend for a while. Either way they’re both stunning!!

Love the radiant but I’m definitely a rectangle girl! Good luck 🙂

The radiant is amazing, my dream!

I personally love the oval, but that’s because I hate the crushed ice effect – I find it messy. The oval exudes class and symmetry, and the radiant feels more modern.

Just from those pics, radiant. The oval seems like it might have a big bow tie, but hard to tell without seeing more.

If you truly think you’d be happy with either one, I’d say let you SO decide. That way you’d be semi-surprised when they proposed and know that this was the stone they preferred more. That’s only if you’re truly sure you’d be happy either way though! Otherwise, I’d personally go for the radiant. I love both shapes but the radiant seems more sparkly, at least from these photos.

It’s a shame that cushions face up so small lol. I have one and I swear that it looks about the same size as as my round diamond which is smaller by one carat. In your case, the oval is on trend and the radiant is different. Most ovals have a bow tie and it’s not something to fear in all cases. Either way you decide it will be beautiful.
