Well, my fiance and I are living in the country of Mexico. Resources are just different here. We don’t have as many resouces and what resources are here cost a large amount of money.
So, to keep it simple in the bedroom decor department I was thinking black and white. The walls should be white in our new apartment. Should be… You know how that goes. So, I was going to get some type of black and white bedspread. Black and white is in style now so it should be doable. And when I’m in the states I was going to get some either white or black sheets to hang in the windows. I was thinkin black because I do get headaches and I hate how the sun comes blarring through the windows and theres no way to block it out.
The big thing in the bedroom was going to be a poster of ‘Guernica’ by Picasso. I happen to love this image and the story behind it.
Anyway thats about it. I wanted to keep it simple. The rooms in Mexico are just about big enough for a bed, 2 side tables and a closeet.
If anyone else has any simple ideas for big impact please let me know. I’m not opposed to adding another color. But, usually the headboard and the to side tables in the apartment are dark wood.

chica95110: If you want to limit the bed to black and white,(eliminate the wood headboard) you could:
- make a slipcover for the headboard using a quilted black coverlet so it looks like an upholstered headboard. You just make a “pillowcase” type form and slip it over the headboard.
you can just sew the side seams so it slips right down over your headboard.
- or, you could just use a couple of Euro pillows which will cover most of the headboard.
if you want to block the sun, you could consider buying an extra quilted black coverlet and use it for curtain fabric. The quilted layers will block more of both the light and the heat.

emstar168: Ya, I was thinking orange maybe or even light blue. I don’t know. I used to love red for accent but now I’m kinda all reded out.

julies1949: I like that idea. I had not even thought of that. We will be renting a furnished apartment as always so ya covering it may be a cool idea! I tried doing that canopy thing and my fi just does not feel it. lol.
