- Wedding: October 2011
So, I had it in my head that I would be doing a rustic, country wedding at a vineyard or barn nearby or something like that and then I remembered I have allergies. achoo! It turned out for the best and we found an amazing art gallery that was built in the 1940’s and has great brick walls and travertine floor and is owned by a glass artist who is really easy going in terms of space rental. it a great find and we’re very excited about it! but now i’m looking at my pile of accumulated milk glass and saved inspiration boards filled with pillowy peach peonies and burlap table runners and i’m thinkin’ that i’m going to need a design change.
there are lots of modern, red accents and stainless steel & glass tables, benches and other elements in the venue and i don’t know how to decorate it with what i had in mind. it seems like i should be looking more at bright punches of colors and square glass vases, but I don’t know, I’d still like to use my milk glass and stuff but the styles might look too jarring. also, most of the modern color combos aren’t really “fall” colors, would that be weird? bright yellow billy buttons might make the milk glass more modern, but then it’s like Red! Yellow! Aqua! Ha-cha-cha!
Another consideration is that FH and I met in China, he proposed with a fortune cookie, etc so China is our “thing”. BUT, we don’t want a total red & gold China-explosion! Future Mother-In-Law, as great as she is, hasn’t taken the hint and keeps googling “Asian themed wedding” and suggesting crushed red table linens with brocade red and gold photo albums and things like that when i’m thinking more like… white lanterns and dry-embossed double happiness characters on the invites to be the extent of it lol. so! …help? anyone have any suggestions? i can pour over inspiration boards all day, but most are outside and country themed so if you have any particular blogs/resources/ideas/suggestions i’ll definitely take them!!!
