- Wedding: October 2007
I am a wedding planner and have a decor dilema. I have an out of state bride who is getting married in a tiny town. The budget is really tight and her colors if you will are lapis (in the form of the girls dresses), the bride’s dress is ivory and all the flowers are going to be burnt orange. The couple is getting married at her parent’s property so I have to rent chairs for the ceremony. The town is so small and out of the way that to rent chairs from the nearest large town the delivery cost is more than it is to rent the chairs. The only place in town only carries black chairs. There is no black in their reception decor. They can’t afford to bring in the nicer chairs. The feeling they want is vintage/burlap…How do I incorporate these black chairs without having a mish mash of themes/colors etc. Can the reception and the ceremony have different decor? The ceremony will also have a white tent over the chairs and they would like paper lanterns hanging. Would it be appropriate to do ivory and another color? I just don’t see it all coming together.
The reception will be at a seperate location and have white table linens, white chair covers, ivory chair bows. The centerpieces will be tall glass cylinders filled with water, submerged orange roses, clear beads on the bottom, with a floating ivory candle on top. This will be sitting on a mirror with a few ivory votives around the mirror and possibly some burnt orange and ivory petals sprinkled around too.
