- Wedding: November 2012
I am having a REALLY difficult time deciding on a color scheme/”theme” for our weddng. We have changed our colors MULTIPLE times… mainly because of my fiance. He didn’t like the first two colors schemes enough, so we decided on a sapphire blue and peacock theme but frankly it was getting to be too much trouble, too much work, and looked too cluttered in my head. Now we’re on to the next. (Luckily we haven’t purchased any colored/themed items yet)
Here are our issues:
1. My grandparents are paying for the actual wedding. It is a wedding package that includes music, food, officiant, cake, ceremony & reception sites, etc. They also provide basic decor and anything we’d want to customize it we would have to provide.
2. This is a desitination wedding. I am not looking forward to even trying to bring down my gown, much less a bunch of other wedding things.
3. I really want a cinematic videographer (we’d pay for this ourselves)… and they’re not cheap. If we are to get a videographer that means any customization we want for the decor has to be extremely budget friendly.
4. We have different priorities, which is really screwing this whole planning thing up.
My main priorities are photographer (mother’s paying) and videographer (we’d have to pay). His is the cake. Why is this a problem?
As I stated above to obtain a videographer we would really need to keep any extra decor to a budget friendly minimum. Which includes size/weight of decor because we’d need to ship it to our venue or pack it with us on the plane. I am fine with forking out extra for a cool wedding cake since he wants it so bad (even though a regular cake is included in our package)… except he wants this cake:
It’s not my ideal wedding cake, but it’s important to him so whatever, I don’t care. Problem is… how the heck and I supposed to decorate around that thing on a budget? Steam punk isn’t exactly a cheap theme. The decor I was thinking of before I saw his cake was rustic… branches, burlap, etc. It would be easy to ship and inexpensive.
Now I need help, please.
