Heres a pic of the open air chapel im getting married in. I definitely want the two pieces of fabric on the ceiling. I think the aisle needs *something* as it looks a bit bare
colour wise, would all white be too boring? i was thinking having some petals in the aisle (btu would they look better scattered or in a line?) and then a small white arrangement and some candles up front.
and if petals are scattered…how do i avoid sweeping them all along with my dress?!
the reception will be very colourful so i thought about keeping the ceremony site quite simple. or would a splash of colour look better?

you can do the petals along the sides of the aisles so your dress is less likely to sweep them.
You could also tie something to the ends of the aisles (or every 3rd aisle to save money) like a paper lantern, or a bow, or other item
Something like this would be nice in all white if you want it to be. You can buy them pretty cheap online too and just add the ribbon yourself.

I agree, line the aisle with petals to avoid dress sweeping them up. If you can post pics of benches it may help us to get ideas.

I think it looks beautiful without anything but if you are still wanting a little something, you can always get a aisle runner or use the petals on the side as mentioned by the others. Not sure what your budget is but you can rent trees if you want some height or do vases of flowers every few rows. Good Luck!
