While you don’t HAVE to decorate it certainly adds to the photos.

You could put flowers, candles, lanterns or other simple decor down the edge of the aisle. You could also get an arch to stand under during the ceremony that would add a little something as well.

The only thing I would do is put some sort of table/arch with flowers (I picked flowers, because I’d add them to anything) at the end the aisle to sort anchor where we’ll end up standing.

The site is beautiful.  You certainly wouldnt need much.  if you felt it needed a little oomph you could maybe add some garland on the chairs that go down the aisle, or maybe on the backs of the rows that are the last row?  Maybe an arch at the altar to anchor the space?  Otherwise I think that nature is your backdrop.

We are also having an outdoor ceremony, and I’m not concerning myself too much with the decor. Your site is beautiful, I think you should just leave it alone, it will look gorgeous even without any decorations at all!

@mrschmura:  As long as the scenery beautiful (which your location is), I don’t think you need a ton of decor. Of course, I think decorations can be lovely, and can enhance the surrounding scenery.

All of these are lovely to me in different ways:

We’re not! The ceremony will be at one of the beautiful gardens at the college where I teach. Heck, I’m not decorating the conference center either, it already looks classy.

We’re not – this is another wedding at our location that we’re pretty much going to copy exactly, except we will have an ivory aisle runner. I think the tree as the alter is beautiful we were discussing maybe lanterns in the tree or something but i love it just like it is, and for the sake of a 20 min ceremony i don’t think it’s worth it, i’m already paying $600 for chairs and the aisle runner!

We did shepard’s hooks on the aisle and pretty floral urns at the “alter,” but we could have skipped it.  Most of that decor wasn’t in the photos.  If you just go with the natural beauty of the area, I don’t think you’ll come off as cheap.

@mrschmura:  nah, I don’t think it needs anything more. What would you do anyway? There’s nowhere to hang things.

You really do not need to do a lot at all! What about some shepherd’ hppks with flowers?

The chairs sound lovely!  Some sort of arch with fabric that works with the backdrop will be sufficient.

I am in the same boat. One of the reasons that we picked our venue is because of all the natural beauty. I feel like decorations would only take away.
