i think that you can definitely bring your rustic outdoor theme inside! I think it would look great!!! I think you should start by making an inspiration board. I know it sounds tough, but if you are doing a lot of it yourself, an inspiration board will really help you show others EXACTLY what you are thinking, rather than just describing it to them. You don’t want to go shopping with a friend to find the perfect jars or the perfect decorations if you’ve told them about your idea and they are interpreting it completely differently.

I think this will turn out great!

BeachBrideT – I agree with you, I think you should use the outside elements to your inspiration! There are soo many rustic ideas out there! I’m sure if you started a post for rustic inspiration pictures, people on here would provide for you to get ideas from!!

I think, as bees above have said, using outdoor elements will definitely get across the feel you’re going for, mauve curtains or not. I actually just forwarded this post from Ms. Spring Roll: http://www.weddingbee.com/2009/02/24/diys-i-wish-i-had-done/#more-84429  to my sister b/c I absolutely loved the first picture…from the sound of it, something like that using the branches and yellow flowers (and those are paper, which would help w/your budget ) would be perfect for your reception. And save-on-crafts.com has a great selection of naturals and botanicals that could really help you get the look you want. Good luck!!

Just fyi, Tessabella, I was just on the Knot and there’s a link on the main page to hot color combos — pink and mauve is one of them, if you want to try to incorporate the colors of the hall

Love the ideas already posted, especially the yellow paper flowers with twigs. Rustic, inexpensive, and classy all at once. ^_^

This is one of my favorite weddings I’ve found online: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=9682109&blogID=329505868

Twig + paper flower centerpieces, hanging paper pomanders, and DIY cupcakes. It’s a beautiful wedding and a great reminder that a beautiful and awesome time can be had on a shoestring budget. ^_^ The how-tos for the paper pomanders and small paper flowers can all be found on MarthaStewartWeddings.com

If you end up needing to have your ceremony inside, potted flowers at Home Depot etc. are quite inexpensive as well. I priced some from Home Depot–it was August so it was yellow chrysanthymums in a good-sized, rustic basket, around $10. Would be great for ceremony or reception decor and would really help bring the outdoors inside.

Do you think you’d be able to use the removable picture hangers? The kind where you pull the tab on the adhesive and it releases cleanly with no residue? Could be an acceptable compromise with the site if you can talk them into it…

Good luck! Keep us updated! ^_^
