- Wedding: September 2012
Just a little info about my wedding: September 2, 2012, 45 guests (all family), reception at a japanese hibachi restaurant
I decided to go with cupcakes for these reasons:
We are getting married on a Sunday and bakeries don’t deliver on Sundays around here.
I am a professional chef and don’t want to end up cutting all the cake for my guests. (At first I wanted to make my own cake, but after much consideration I decided I wanted to sit back on my wedding day and enjoy someone else’s hard work)
With such a small party, I still want the height of a larger wedding cake but don’t want to have tons of leftovers that no one will take home. (If I have leftover cupcakes with bakery boxes ready to fill cupcakes with, guests may be more inclined to take some home with them)
I can set up the display without the bakery charging me delivery or set up.
Here is what my bouquet will sort of look like. The designer is working in my color scheme which is chocolate brown, this orange, and a lighter blue maybe tiffany blue?
Here are my wedding invitations:
I really like how clean and elegant this cupcake display looks, however I would change it to chocolate brown colors and add my love birds cake topper instead.
Here’s the cake topper we will use for sure:
I also like this display for cakes:
I like this origami incoporated cake because my flowers will match and also we are having a hibachi reception so it would match the venue. Also having custom fortune cookies as favors.
If I went with the second display option, I would not put it on those 2 cake stands (too fancy and expensive for me) I don’t know what colors I would make the flowers though. Would the blue ones like on this cake be too much considering my cake topper is also that blue color? Or is that the point? Then on the table I could scatter some of the flowers in orange white and blue like my bouquet will be. Is this overkill?
Also planning on having the bouquet displayed in a vase at the reception. The space we have to work with is VERY small because those hibachi tables are so huge there isn’t much space to put tables on the side which means everything will probably be on one table: cake, champagne, bouquet and guest book. If I can get away with it, I would do 2 tables: one for guest book, gifts, and bouquet and the other with cake and champagne.
Sorry this is so long. Thoughts anyone?
And this is the inside of the restaurant. Excuse the really poor editing skills, found this picture on facebook and don’t even know the people in the picture.
