I’m not particularly enamoured. It doesn’t look spectacular in the video.

I’m not saying I’d say “no” to it if it were a gift, but I’d rather have paler blue with more sparkle.

I definitely prefer the lighter blue. It’s too dark and you can’t see the fire as much.

@pfinarffle:  Fancy colored moissanite has been around for years now.  Some retailers/vendors would send batches of untreated moissanite to places like Serenity who put a color coating on them.  Charles & Colvard recently made a deal with Serenity.  Serenity will no longer be doing the coating for any one other than C&C going forward.

Looks like they will have the red you were wishing for too.

The difference with this moissy is that it occurred blue NATURALLY. There’s only like 2 in the world. It wasn’t treated/coated to be blue.

@pharmy:  Right.  There have been green batches from like this too from Charles & Colvard.

Of course, I’m not sure what they mean by “naturally”, because they were still grown in a lab.  I also could have sworn that I read somewhere on the BTD forums that the green were a result of a screw up (chemistry?) or maybe it was just an experiment.  That might have happened with the blue too.  I could be wrong.  I suffer from CRS.

It’s pretty nice, but I like the sky blue in that same shop way better (I wish they had that in more shapes and sizes!)

@pfinarffle:  Have you ever checked out the rubies from betterthandiamond.com?  I have one and it’s not pinkish at all.  It’s a true red.

5 GRAND?  I’d be SO pissed if I spent that much money, then 6 months later they ‘solved the mystery” of how they made it, and they started coming to marked for the price of other coloured moissanites (sorry… don’t know the price per carat off the top of my head).

That blue moissy is WAY overpriced IMO.
