I just called our top five reception venues to set up appointments. Got through to one. Left messages for four. Three have called back. One is moving to a new location September 1 (we’re looking to get married sometime in the October – January window, and will take the first available date that our chapel and reception venue have open in common, within reason), and won’t be available for rentals until after December. Art Gallery, crossed off the list.
So … I’ve got appointments lined up. Did I mention that I’m going to our hometown for six days? Three with J, and three after he comes back (he has a job… weirdo!).
So now we’ll spend Saturday with my family (doing a belated Christmas; my brother is even coming up to town!), Sunday with his family, the parents will meet on Monday, for lunch at our #1 pre-choice reception venue, a swanky li’l restuarant downtown. Then J flies out Monday afternoon.
Tuesday Mom and I will visit the Traditional Hotel Ballroom venue on campus with the chapel where J wants to get married in the morning, and a downtown bar and grill in the afternoon.
Wednesday we’ll hit up David’s for some generic low-budget dress shopping, and hopefully get to see the last venue (who hasn’t called me back yet, an empty box theatre that I think could dress up nicely).
Thursday afternoon I fly back to DC and meet up with some bees for a late dinner. Whew!
It’s gonna be one heck of a week. Don’t forget, I’ve gotta squeeze seeing two sets of grandparents (one rather sick) and a handful of friends (including my MOH-to-be, and an old bff who’s 36 1/2 weeks pregnant) into the mix somewhere!
