1. Start Prenatals now.  You want them in your system for at least three months prior to conception, and it won’t hurt you.

2. I am new to charting and don’t know.  Hopefully one of the super awesome charting bees will respond (ChuckNorrisFTW is super helpful and nice).

3. Do a preconception appt and make sure all vaccines are up to date and any meds are safe for pregnancy.  See your dentist and do all necessary dental work.  Check your health insurance.  Consider disability insurance.  Eat healthy, exercise.  Don’t smoke, drink alcohol, or use any drugs.

Definitely start taking prenatals. You want to build up your folic acid ( and as a bonuyour does wonders for hair nails and skin).

You may want to try temping but if you have a crazy sleep schedule that could effect its accuracy. Some ladies check CM and use that as a way to figure out ovulation. Or you can just try to bd every other day during your cycle.

As guitargirl said you should see your doctor for a preconception appt.  they can give you some good advice and catch you up on shots bloodwork etc

Good luck!!!

@guitargirl:  I heart you!!!!!! You are so sweet =)

@ElopeGirl:  I have taken prenatals for YEARS for their benefits on hair and skin. The American Pregnancy Association recommends all women of childbearing should take at least 400 mg of folic acid, because the most critical time for neural tube development is the first 28 days of embyonic development =) With your sleep schedule, I do not think you would benefit much from temping. You could try to temp just on the days you get full nights of sleep to see if you have overall lower temps in the first part of you cycle and overall higher temps in the second part of your cycle, but for you, I would recommend ovulation predictor kits. Have you heard of them?

Here is a thread about preconception appointments, as guitargirl suggested.

Did you make a preconception appointment?

I highly recommend vaccines!!!! You can get them from your local public health office if you do not have a physician. Here’s a story as to why I think parents-to-be should be vaccinated…be warned, it is SO sad. I cry every time I read it.

You could chart your cervical mucous too, instead of or in addition to your occasional temps. Here’s a site about the “fertility awareness method.”

Definitely sign up for an account on fertilityfriend.com it’s where I learned everything about TTC so far…that and the bee!!!

I completely agree that ChuckNorrisFTW is one the nicest most helpful people I know on the net, she has the biggest heart and best advice!

Anywho its never too early to start taking the Prenatal vitamins, even if you dont plan TTC right away, its good to get those nutrients in your body especially the folic acid.

Its also good to start charting you periods, so you know how long your cycle is and when you usually Ovulate, so that you know exactly when to have sex.

Get a rythm going so that by the time you ARE ready, youre already a pro at charting.

Thats what Ive been doing, right now we are on cycle 2 of TTC and getting used to how my body works. Good Luck!
