Hi there! To clarify, there was never a hard date promised that you have mentioned above. I did say the estimated testing phase was slated to begin mid-December, but we’ve ran into delays (see below).

Here’s the update on the feature!

User deletions function (design and functionality) was submitted in the new year to our tech team to begin implementing. Shortly after Jan 1. as many of you have noticed, the site had been going down frequently and they put all their resources to restoring complete functionality and making sure the site was stable. We had to figure out the issue, then remove it. We ended up taking down the leaderboard and narrow the results of the “Related topics” (from “all time” to just related results in the last year). Once we did that, the site stabilized, and we were able to re-focus on building out the deletion functionality.

We’re back on track now and barring any additional site stability issues, the team dedicated to weddingbee will be able to focus on building this feature, testing it, and releasing. The policy won’t be revised until the function is live on site. I haven’t been given an updated date to start testing functionality but I will follow up with our tech team to get an updated estimated timeline.

This is our current build on deck here; we’re not currently working on any new projects/builds until the new deletion functionality rolls out live!

@mepayne: Original posters of threads will have the ability to delete a limited number of their own threads. When a thread is deleted (but, say, you had the permalink to the thread because you’d subscribed to it in email) you’ll get a message saying that the thread has been deleted by the original poster, with a link to our updated deletion policy!

Full scope and nitty grittys coming soon 🙂

@google:  I also stand corrected! I did say Jan 12 was the expected date for us to release this feature. My sincere apologies! Please do know that we are working on this currently, and I will press for updated dates from the tech team and update 🙂

Hi all! Update:

Testing just wrapped up on our user-generated thread deletion feature! We expect to roll it out before Thursday of next week. I’ll make an announcement when it’s live!

Will people have the ability to delete individual posts (not whole threads)?

Yay for this being functional! I just got rid of 2 threads I regretted posting. I really wish the limit was 5 deletions, not 3, though.
