@RnbwznPuppies:  I agree.  This is just one example of how keeping some threads around doesn’t really help future brides.  Some situations are so unique, too, that it’s highly unlikely someone is going to search for that specific topic and read the old threads.  In all honesty, we see the same topics get started as new threads constantly… that kind of proves how little people actually search back, read, and learn from existing threads.

At the very least, it would help unclog the site a little to start removing older threads that none of us can benefit from and people aren’t going to be searching for.

@google:  All I’ll say is Clara, if you’re reading this, and I know you are and you are indeed thinking about harming yourself, please know there is help out there. Call the suicide prevention helpline: 1800273TALK

Does anyone think she is really on here checking out what we are saying about her? And if she is…do you really think she cares?? [content moderated for namecalling and snark] And Im sure she will be back here after her wedding under a new name on the TTC boards again, picking right back up where she started

@mrssoontobeh:  How…in the world…could you possibly know that?

You don’t. No one does. Lets not make assumptions.

I WISH EVERYONE WOULD STOP BRINGING THIS BACK TO CLARA.  THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CLARA.  THIS HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE DELETION POLICIES.

I understand that if not for the incident with Clara, then we wouldn’t have had this whole issue stir up like this.  But please guys – FOCUS.  For crying out loud!!!!!

This is a problem that I’m sure is unprecedented.  The admins and mods are, I’m sure, trying to handle it as effectively as possible.  I’m not defending anyone or any actions taken by any bees, admins or mods.  All I’m saying is, this could have easily been avoided if we were granted more control of our own posts/threads/accounts.

Since Penguin has already discussed that the admins are going to review the deletion policies, let’s let them do that and reconvene in about a week or two when they’ve had the time to do that and see what they come up with.

In the time being, can we stop with all the other stuff that’s going on?  It’s really taking away from the boards.

@penguin:  “Rash changes as a result of one incident in which no one was involved with but one member are not appropriate.”

We aren’t asking for RASH changes. We’re asking for a sensible change that reasonably benefits all members of Weddingbee. What’s the harm in installing a policy that lets bees delete 5 posts over their ‘bee lifetime’?  We aren’t asking for a free-for-all, just some latitude from the Mods / Admin / Weddingbee God / WHATEVER YOU WANT US TO CALL WHOEVER GETS RID OF POSTS to recognize we are imperfect human beings who make errors in judgment sometimes when we post a thread on a particularly sensitive topic. One hour is not enough time to reasonably foresee the affects of these postings, particularly if one is in a highly emotional situation.

@futuremrsk18:  This is not at all what I was thinking.  I don’t want to be able to delete my account and have everything I’ve ever written just disappear.  I want to be able to go back and delete anything I’ve posted or go back and delete entire threads I’ve started.

I’m confused… the link I posted asks, “Anyone else think its BS that we can’t delete our account/threads/comments, or at least edit them once they’re old?”

How is that different than what you were thinking?

ETA: Nevermind. I see that poll question is, “Should we be able to delete our accounts?” so I think that’s what your answer was based off of. I think that was just a shortened version of the thread title, though, because a lot of people talk about deleting comments/threads in the thread.

@RnbwznPuppies:  Yea, but the original purpose of this thread was not to rehash the Clara situation.  So, it would be nice if people hadn’t threadjacked since the OP specifically asked for that!

@Regina Phalange:  Oh ok, because I read the first few posts and it was all about accounts.  It doesn’t matter, I’m not going to start the poll because Penguin already said that they were going to revisit the deletion policies.  I think it’s clear a majority of the active members would like it revised.
