My wedding is this weekend!!!Agghh! So my family all came into town a few days ago and my mom surprised me with a beautiful white gold locket necklace for my wedding jewelry – it is really beautiful and I love it – the problem? It’s doesn’t go with my ‘wedding look’ so I don’t want to wear it on my wedding day, but I’m afraid my mom will be sooo disappointed if I don’t.
I’m afraid that I sound like a spoiled brat on this but my dress doesn’t really suit a necklace at all so I was planning on just wearing earrings, plus I have a slight goitre (swelling in my neck throat area) which is only slightly noticable but I am self conscious of it and don’t want to draw any attention to that area at all. Also my dress and overall look is very delicate and this necklace is fairly chunky so I’m worried it will look awful, but I really don’t want to hurt my mom’s feeling in any way! Any suggestions on how to handle this?

Is putting it on a bracelet chain and wearing it on your wrist an option? Or chain it to your bouquet?

@auggiefrog: I like this idea!
Or can you pin the locket to a part of your dress?

I like the ideas above- could you wear it to the rehearsal dinner?

I was dealing with a somewhat similar problem. My sister is making my wedding jewelry and we have really different styles, so I was concerned about it “matching” my outfit.
What if you just wear it part of the time? Maybe for the ceremony but then switch it for a different one for the reception? Will you be dressing up for a rehearsal dinner or brunch the next day or anything like that, and you could use it then?

I was going to suggest pinning the locket to your bouquet or wearing it to the rehearsal dinner. Your mom should understand.
