For our wedding, we did a traditional almond wedding cake, but it was a naked cake–so many of our guests were excited that they didn’t have to peel off a layer of fondant, or dig through 2″ of frosting, haha. The ratio was delicious. SOOOOO good.
One of my allllll time favorite cakes though is a super rich and moist chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Like, so simple but I love it. Bonus points if there’s toppings including but not limited to: strawberries, Reese’s cups, Oreos….
Or donuts which I know isn’t cake but got.damn I love it.
Okay now I’m just daydreaming about dessert…gonna post this comment before I just start listing desserts in general that I like, haha

The best wedding cake I have tasted is from my cousin’s wedding. She also had a banana flavored cake with Bavarian cream filling. It was so good that I had 4 slices through the night. Yes, you read it right, FOUR! I felt like a blob the rest of the night though. But for my wedding, I think I will stick to something simple like vanilla and chocolate. I’d hate to risk spending $$$ on a flavor that people will not eat.

lol, and I was so disappointed that a wedding cake last summer was banana filled. The best I had was also last summer though. I got the impression that it was well known by locals. Some kind of vanilla with berry filling, but not a standard berry, so of course I can’t remember what it was called. Plenty of opportunities to get seconds or thirds, too 🙂

Our cake will be three layers; the biggest is strawberries and champagne, the middle is vanilla cake with oreo filling, and the top is an almond cake with hazelnut ganache.
I pushed for months for a hazelnut cake when Fiance was skeptikal.. one bite of the strawberries and champagne and I was sold. It’s so good we’ve even discussed doing two layers of this flavor!
