Is anyone seeing their dentist for whatever you think you need done before the wedding ?
I am not very happy with my smile, actually i tend to smile with my mouth closed unless i can only show one side etc.. I am very selfconcious about my teeth. My dentist has told me for years that I should have gotten braces when a kid but my mother didn’t do so.
So now as adult I will eventually need to spend $$$ to get my teeth / bite looking pretty. And since it’s all cosmetic, I’ll have to pay for it myself. So needles to say, this is on a back burner now.
I figured I’ll need whitening done and got the Zoom Whitening from the dentist. Used for the first time last night. OMG it tastes discusting and this morning my teeth hurt :(! I have to use it every day for the next 10 days. So this morning I am drinking coffee through a straw.
In a week i have an appointment to have gums over my two teeth contoured (cut off with a laser) to match the other side, to visually make my teeth look even.
Wanna be pretty – gotta suffer 🙁
Anyone else feels very subconcious about something that they are trying to “fix” before the big day and all the photos ?

I got my teeth cleaned two weeks before my wedding and I am thankful I did. I only did whitening strips once between the cleaning and the wedding. I would just make sure not to do any whitening less than four days before your wedding so your teeth aren’t sensitive during your wedding.

@Lulume: i heard professional whitening makes your teeth hurt, and since my teeth are already sensitive i’m just going to use a whitening toothpaste and maybe crest white strips.
i did a bunch of checkup/cavity/bite adjustments in April, May and June just to make sure I wasn’t going to have any problems right before. i just want to enjoy my day!

I plan on whitening my teeth at home using this method (http://www.chickadvisor.com/chickchat/beauty/awesome-diy-teeth-whitening-tip/), rather than going to the dentist. I’ve heard good things from people who have done it this way. I’ve heard lots of people say that Zoom whitening at the dentist leaves their teeth feeling very sore and sensitive.

I bought a $10 “professional” tray whitening kit off of Amazon, and it has made my teeth as white as I could imagine wanting them in maybe 5 treatments? I wouldn’t spend money at the dentist for it, given how well the at-home thing worked.

I hate that “pro” whitening stuff. It doesn’t work for me. I loooove the Crest pro whitestrips, though. They’re super sticky (the regular ones move around too much) and work after 2-3 uses. I use them every other day and use a restoring mouthwash immediately after and in between.

@Lulume: To prepare for our wedding, and the rest of my adult life actually, I got braces. I wanted them but was worried about the costs but my Fiance insisted that I get them, becuase I was SO self concious about my teeth, he didn’t want me “fake smiling” in our wedding photos one day (when I got my braces on we weren’t even engaged! lol)
My Fiance helped me with the initial deposit and here I am 20 months later and my teeth are about 95% perfect, they would have been much better if I had gotten braces as a kid, but they look a TRILLION times better then they did. I’ll hopefully have these babies off in October.
I’m not planning on doing any whitening at first, I’m going to try and do it via whitening tooth paste, if that doesn’t work out I’ll probably get a whitening kit from my dentist a month or so before our wedding.

@Lulume: I got invisalign about 2.5 years ago in preparation for when I get married. I had braces, but didn’t wear my retainers into adulthood so my teeth shifted a bit. I didn’t like that, so I did the invisalign for about 6 months. My teeth are straight now and I love it.
I did buy crest 3d white toothpaste and mouth wash. So I really hope that it helps make my teeth whiter. I’m going to use that until the wedding. And I might either do the strips before the wedding or get my teeth professionally whitened at the dentist.
