Uh oh did you have a cavity or something?  I don’t like it much but I haven’t had a lot of cavities so I don’t have to deal with the numbing or drilling.

I really hate it.  The scraping sound is like nails on a chalkboard, except in my mouth, echoing through my brain, and I build up saliva and just want to swallow, and then when they do the polishing I just grip the armrests and pray for it to be over.  I still go, religiously, and I’m happy about my teeth after the fact, but I really despise going to the dentist.  I’d rather have a pap smear than get my teeth cleaned.

I don’t mind it.  I don’t enjoy it but I don’t hate it either.  My dentist office is pretty nice so I have no reason to hate it.  I don’t like the needles they use to numb my mouth though, but it’s kinda something they have to do. Although, I heard some offices put you under anesthesia. Oh, I did go to another dentist and he was such an a$$hole. Yeah, I found another dentist. My coworker went to him, too and said the same thing about him.

I hate it!! I’ve had so many huge issues with my teeth that every time I go I know I’m going to get some kind of bad news 🙁 I’m 25 and never had a cavity but I’ve had 6 oral surgeries to correct genetic problems, I go only because I know I have to (my grandma lost her teeth at 35 because she stopped going to the dentist!) but I’m NOT happy about it!!!

I hate it, but mostly because I don’t have dental insurance currently 🙁 So I just avoid going. And that scraping noise is TERRIBLE. Eek. And I hate needles, so needles up in my face makes me very uncomfortable.

Thankfully, the dentist I see now (when I do go) gives you sun glasses so you’re not squinting the whole time, and lets you bring your ipod to just listen to your own music and distract you. So that’s nice (but then I feel rude for not visiting, lol).

I like it. My dentist is AWESOME. and for all the troubles I’ve had with my Jaw, he’s been really amazing. I LOVE getting my teeth cleaned. I’ve only ever had one cavity, when I was much younger.

Now, that’s not to say I haven’t had a bad experience. When I was younger, my dentist retired, so I had to go find a new one, the one we got was terrible. I had to get 4 teeth pulled and the first 3 were fine, but by the time they got to the 4th tooth, I felt EVERYTHING. All tissue ripping, root coming out of my gums. Everything. It hurt so bad.

    Otherwise, I love it.

I also have had much experience with dentists because of a congenital problem;have had braces as an adult, extractions, implants etc.

I can sleep through the dentist.

The one I have now is fabulous and uses all the latest techniques. I don’t even feel the local anaesthetic. The most pain med I’ve had to take after any procedure has been Advil and only  the first day.

If you brush and floss your teeth regularly there is not nearly so much scraping needed.

I don’t care, I’ve never had a cavity so its never been a painful experience. It does piss me off when the dentist jabs me in the gums and then claims it hurts because I don’t floss enough. No I’m pretty sure its because you are STABBING ME

I don’t mind it, mainly because I ADORE my dentist. She is so sweet and so nice–she makes every visit so enjoyable.

I don’t mind going as much as I mind the thought of losing any teeth…ever. So I do it, although it makes me slightly anxious. I have had good reports the past few years although my last dentist seemed to find little cavities nearly every visit.. I always wonder about that now. My SO’s mom is my dentist now though and she is nice enough, but more importantly so calm that it relaxes me.

I do dislike one of her hygienists though, she did my last cleaning and it felt like she was literally trying to saw through my gums with the floss. They were so inflamed and painful for the rest of the day I couldn’t eat!

I can’t stand it and have major dentis fears and anxiety.  i would rather go to the gynecologist every day of my life than have to go to the dentist.  I shudder just thinking about it.
