Dogmummy:  Have you had unprotected sex since then?

If so I believe it’s possible to get pregnant without having a period first.

I think you should call your doctor/gynecologist.

Dogmummy:  I was on Depo for 2 years. It took about 6-8 months for me to have my period after that, maybe longer. I wasn’t really counting because I wasn’t sexually active at the time, so it didn’t matter to me lol. I would just hang in there and wait it out, but definitely still protect yourselves if you’re not ready for baby yet.

Are you sure you’re not pregnant? It is possible to have gotten pregnant after you came off the shot but before you have a period. I would suggest going to your provider to figure out what is going on if you are concerned.

I looked into the depo option at one point and looked on a seperate websit for info and this one. Overall, it completley varies for each person. Some ppl it took over a year and some it was the next month. I decided not to do it beacuse of the side effects.

One of the side effects of the Depo injection is amenorrhea (lack of menstrual cycle) after about a year of use (but can vary). Also, one of its main disadvantages is delayed return to fertility (can take up to 18 months). Don’t ever be afraid to talk with your doctor or pharmacist about it though.

Dogmummy:  take a test but chances are you are not pregnant. I got depo only once and it still took about 6 months for me to get a period after! If you don’t get it by June I would def talk to the doc.

Dogmummy:  I just came off it too, I was due for the shot in August. I’ve had 1 and kind of a half periods in the last couple months and I think I’m finally getting back to normal. My doctor told me to expect it to take 9 months to a year, so I don’t think you have anything to worry about yet. I hope that it’s going better for you than it did for me, I had what felt like withdrawal for months!

Dogmummy:  I had migraines every day and just a general feeling of not being well, plus ridiculous mood swings.  I’ve tried 2 different pills and the shot now and all of them have given me crazy side effects. We don’t want kids for a long time if ever, so now were not really sure what to do.

I am on the depo too and I am wondering the same questions. We are getting married in May and we want to TTC in Septemberish, 4 months after our wedding (not really in a “rush” to get pregnant by sept. But that’s when we were going to start TTC) so I’m nervous too about the time it will take after getting off of it. My sis was on it for about 5 years and she got pregnant within 6 month of the last depo cycle ending.

I would call your doctor. I believe there is something they can give you to kick start your period. 7 months is a long time.

It can take up to 18 months for cycles to return off depo.

I had one shot due to a procedure.  It messed up my cycle for a year. I told the dr write in big red letters on my chart to never give me that poo poo shot again! It was a mess from the moment I took it. Awful.
