I actually feel like crying right now, I think I am depressed about the amount of snow we’ve been getting in the Northeast (I live in NYC). I love snow, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve now been stranded for an extra week over Christmas at my In-laws since no flights were going back to NYC (I was supposed to work that week, it’s my busiest time of year) and now I’m missing out on 3 private apartment viewings that took so much juggling, time and stress to schedule which means I have to wait even longer to make an offer and could possibly miss out on my dream apartment.
In addition to that, my office didn’t even have a delayed opening today after we got wallopped with 15″ of snow. Not even an email saying we could wear jeans. There’s just no relief, I’m so stressed.
Anyone else feel this way? I could use words of encouragement 🙁

Two words: Online Shopping
If you can’t get to the stores, bring them to you 😉 hehe.
Sorry it’s so tough up there. Just remember, it won’t be there forever.

Its the end of January so just a few more months of this horrible cold weather & stupid snow! So that is a positive side! I live in the south & while I used to love snow because we had it so random I am completely over it! So I know how you feel about being over it, minus the fact that we do not get near as much here.

@moderndaisy: I feel the same way.
We didn’t have a delayed opening either. I had to trudge through the unplowed streets to the subway. It’s a half mile walk from where I live to the subway.
I am trying to juggle my passion for horseback riding and keeping Fiance happy.
I want to ride twice a week, but Fiance doesn’t like when I’m gone both weekend days so I’ve been rearranging my schedule to go Thursday nights. Because of the snow, I can’t go tonight. So I’m going twice this weekend.
I know it’s not as bad as what you are dealing with, but I’m still pissed about it.
I’m in full business formal today (like I am EVERY day) and I twisted my ankle walking through snow drifts.
If I could work from home this would be ok, but this SUCKS!
ETA: And my office is FREEZING and they closed our lobby coffee bar!!!! How come the coffee bar gets a day off but we don’t?

I’ve had just about enough of winter, too, and usually I love the snow.
Plus my Darling Husband has a meeting today that could lead to some great opportunities for us, and if that gets canceled I will be really disappointed.
I’m trying to stay upbeat by drinking some hot chocolate and ordering some fun clothes for spring, like crystalrodz suggests.
Plus, taking a walk and seeing the kids have fun always makes me feel better!
I hope we’re almost through this!

@deetroitwhat: LOL I totally agree!
I feel your pain! I live in the suburbs of Philly, and we have over a foot here from last night too. I asked my husband this morning if I could get a free pass for this morning from helping him shovel. We don’t have a snow blower, and My back and shoulders are near their breaking point. We’ve had a “small” storm once a week now since Christmas and I’m tired of getting up at 5am to shovel snow! Our neighbors took pity on us today and let us use their snow blower. My poor husband was out there for an hour and a half still!
I’m sorry that the snow keeps ruining all of your plans. The good news is that it is the end of January and we only have a month or two left of this crap. Hopefully mother nature will give us a break soon!

@deetroitwhat: GREAT suggestion! I totally need some retail therapy in the worst way. Darling Husband and I have been saving every penny for our down payment and I just need a break.
@jenn6051: I know, but a few months is a long time 🙁 And this is after we had the hottest summer almost on record which was beyond awful..
@KatNYC2011: Aww, that stinks about your horseback riding tonight! I used to ride and my Mom still foxhunts so I understand the passion. Well, your Fiance will have to do without you, a happy fiancee is better than a frustrated snowbird fiancee. And that is awful about having to wear business formal in this weather. I wore jeans anyway because I”m so upset in general about the snow and I knew no one from the suburbs would make it in (meaning all of our bosses).

@moderndaisy: I understand where you’re coming from. It seems as if we’re hit with snow once or twice a week now. They may not all be big storms, but they’re nuisances. The snow that walloped us the day after Christmas finally melted this past weekend or so. But before it melted, we had more snow that was piled on top of that. Now we just got more snow and ice. It’s tiring after awhile. Just think – we have something to look forward to – SPRING/SUMMER. It won’t last forever. Sorry to hear about work though. I’d be a bit annoyed.
Oh, and it also seems that any time I have plans to travel somewhere or do something, it snows the day I am supposed to go. Yay for being snowed in. AGAIN.

@moderndaisy: Yeah… my boss isn’t in today, but I work on a floor that sees clients. So if clients might be present (even though I don’t see them) business formal is required.
Hopefully they’ll let us go a bit early if things start to freeze over out there.
I’ve never seen so many stuck cabs. I feel like it’s messier on the streets than it was for the December storm. Probably because there is nowhere to put the snow anymore.

@2PeasinaPod: Oh that sinks about the snow shoveling. I guess I take that for granted a little, I never have to do any shoveling living in the city. Getting to work actually isn’t that hard, especially with my Hunter boots. I really really hope this is the worst of it I am so sick of ruined plans 🙁

So sorry to hear that, I know how frustrating it can be. I live in mid-Missouri, and for some reason, even a few inches of snow seems to shut entire cities down.
If I were you, after work, I would get a big, fattening latte and order some delicious takeout. Order a fabulous new purse, and give yourself a pedicure.
Good luck 🙂

@moderndaisy: Gotta love those hunter boots. I also have a pair of those knee high zip up uggs, those are warm, waterproof, lifesavers.
I hear you about ruined plans. If I didn’t have anything planned, I wouldn’t mind the snow. But since I really wanted to get out to the barn, the snow SUCKS!
How long ago did you ride? You should pick it up again, there are some good barns near the city.

@KatNYC2011: I feel the same way. If I didn’t have plans for every single time it snowed this winter, I wouldn’t really mind it. The only time I didn’t was the day after Christmas. It was relaxing then.

@DesireeAnne: Yeah… I was supposed to drive back from Maine to NYC the day after Christmas. Instead we packed the car at 8:30pm Christmas night and made it into the city at 3am. At least we beat the snow!
Pictures from my walk to work this morning… there was SO much snow!

@DesireeAnne: I know the snow doesn’t even have time to melt! I should have taken a picture of it outside my apartment this morning the piles were taller than me on the sidewalk 🙁
@Linz1231: Yes, I hear you on the latte, I need something like that for sure.
@KatNYC2011: Ooh, I want Uggs too, they are so warm! I rode when I was a kid and gave it up because it wasn’t fun anymore after a while. But I think it’s a great sport and great excersize too.
