….the best one I’ve tasted was not a traditional cake but a cheesecake.
One layer was mocha
One layer was hazelnut
One layer was raspberry filled
And the bottom (largest) layer was regular.
I tried them all and sorry but I could not choose a favorite if someone held a piece of wedding cake to my face. SO GOOD.
What was the best wedding cake you’ve ever tasted? Are you planning to incorporate the idea into your own cake?

Um, Lorienne that sounds amazing. My favorite wedding cake was at the wedding of a couple who I actually cannot stand. But MAN did they have a good cake. It was a November wedding and they had a pumpkin flavored cake with some kind of cream cheese icing I think. Soooo good!

This woman I work with is starting a cake business and she makes the most amazing buttercream. I had her make my shower cake and people devoured it. Nothing fancy – just buttery, sugary, creamy perfection! I am not having her do my wedding cake though since I don’t think she is there yet. But I ordered a groom’s cake from her to surprise my fiance. Who is sitting right next to me, so maybe I should be more discrete.

- Wedding: June 2010 - Ceremony - First United Methodist Church; Reception - My parents' house!
One layer was chocolate chip, one layer was carrot, and one was red velvet. Needless to say, I tried them all! NOM nom nom.

Mmm, that does sound incredible.
I would pick …mine! I have 3 flavors: Almond cake with apricot mousse and vanilla mousse, Chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and raspberry and Carrot cake with grand marnier wash and grand marnier cream filling!
The carrot cake is so delicious and I usually will not go anywhere near carrot cake and I’m a chocolate lover … and the almond is neutral apparently =)
The best non-wedding cake I’ve ever had at an event was white chocolate cake, frosted with white chocolate cream … it wasn’t frosting but more of a cream like whip cream … but not whip cream, and fresh berries! It was amazing.

Jocelyn: Your fiance is probably looking out of the corner of his eye =) HAHA. Mine was because this spam ad for “belly fat” melting came on in the right hand corner of this page … and all of a sudden he pointed at it and said click that LOL. I’m like … honey it’s spam.

Meh. He doesn’t notice anything. Unless I took my clothes off or walked in with a bowl of ice cream, he wouldn’t know I was here.
But in a cute way. Not a rude, detatched, pathetic way.

The wedding cake we are having! It’s called Key Lime Bliss. The description of the cake did not appeal to FH and I (he used the word custard which grosses me out. Not a fan of that testure) but out baker had us taste it. OMG it is amazing!!! So light and refreshing! She washes the cake layers with some fresh lemon/lime and also adds some to the buttercream. It is so subtle but just enought to give an amazing flavor and moistness to the cake. There is also key lime custard between the layers with the buttercream but it’s so slight you can’t even tell it is there besides the flavor it adds. Can’t wait to have some more of this cake on our wedding day!
Oh FH is NOT a cake person and he had the sample piece gone before my mom and I! That’s just how good it is
